The Specialty Chemical business of Jubilant Ingrevia manufactures Pyridine, Picolines and its forward integration derivatives, which finds application in agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, dyes, solvents, metal finishes, fine chemicals, semiconductors etc.We have also launched new platform of Diketene & its value-added derivatives for multiple industry use. Our ingredients find application in animal nutrition, human nutrition, personal care, etc. We provide high-quality feed & food additives having application in poultry, dairy, aqua & pet food industry. Job Summary
The Manager Design & Engineering will be responsible for leading and managing design and engineering projects from concept to completion. This role requires ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution
Key Responsibilities
- Design Development
- Lead creation and review of design plans and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with standards and client expectations.
- Technical Expertise
Lead projects from R&D/pilot phase to successful plant commissioning.
- Develop Basic Engineering Package: process design basis, criteria, PFD, heat & mass balance, hydraulics, P&ID, control philosophy, interlock diagrams, IPDS, equipment specs, pump calculations, line/equipment sizing, utility load, operability/layout reviews, pressure drop, safety device sizing.
- Coordinate with R&D/pilot teams for process scale-up.
- Design or modify process plants/equipment; propose debottlenecking and cost-saving improvements.
- Support plant operations: maximize capacity, improve raw material and energy efficiency, enhance quality, EHS aspects.
- Drive cost savings and process optimization.
- Prepare pre-CAPEX/CAPEX proposals.
- Collaborate with consultants and interdisciplinary stakeholders.
- Prepare technical specs, datasheets, review vendor drawings, nozzle orientation, QAP approval.
- Review piping isometrics and approve detailed engineering documents.
- Manage pre-commissioning/commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Develop/review design qualification documents.
- Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork.
- Stay updated with technological advancements.
- Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Provide technical guidance and resolve design issues.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and innovations.
- Project Management
- Oversee design projects from concept to completion.
- Ensure timely delivery within budget and scope.
- Client Interaction
- Understand client needs and present design solutions.
- Incorporate feedback and maintain strong relationships.
- Quality Assurance
- Implement quality control procedures.
- Conduct inspections and address issues promptly.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to regulations and obtain necessary approvals
The Person
- Educational Background:
- Chemical Engineer with 7-10 years of experience in batch plants.
- Graduated from premium institutes such as IIT or NIT.
- Knowledge Levels:
- General Awareness: Fundamental understanding of concepts.
- Working Knowledge: Broad job knowledge, capable of applying a full range of concepts and practices in day-to-day activities.
- Functional Expert: Certified expert with strong knowledge of concepts.
- Mastery: Subject matter expert with command over the subject/concepts.
- Personal Characteristics:
- Excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication.
- Strategic thinker and result-driven doer, capable of understanding business needs, providing strategic support, finding solutions, and implementing good ideas.
