Job Description

Job Role Overview Title: Maintenance Engineer Industry: Food Manufacturing / Processing / Packaging Key Responsibilities Preventive Maintenance Schedule and perform routine inspections. Lubricate, clean, and service machinery to prevent breakdowns. Maintain maintenance logs and records. Troubleshooting & Repairs Quickly diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic faults. Replace or repair faulty parts with minimal downtime. Equipment Installation Assist in setting up new production lines or machines. Ensure proper alignment, calibration, and commissioning. Compliance & Safety Follow food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP). Ensure equipment complies with health and safety standards. Continuous Improvement Recommend upgrades or redesigns for efficiency. Work with production and quality teams on process improvements. Documentation & Reporting Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Generate reports on downtime, maintenance costs, etc. Key Skills & Knowledge Mechanical and electrical systems Food safety regulations. Packaging machines Reading technical drawings and schematics Tools & Technologies Multimeter, vibration analyzers, thermal cameras Welding tools, machine tools, hand tools Typical Qualifications Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering Certifications in food safety or maintenance Apprenticeship or trade certification is valuable Challenges in the Role Maintaining hygiene while performing repairs Working under pressure during equipment failure Adapting to technological advancements and automation Ensuring minimal downtime during peak production
