We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Systems Information Engineer to join our team!

The Lead Systems Information Engineer serves as the senior technical authority for Microsoft 365 (M365) enterprise solutions, Power Platform development, and cloud-based systems integration. This role provides architecture, engineering, and advanced administration support in a large corporate or government environment, ensuring secure, scalable, and optimized collaboration ecosystems across the organization. The engineer leads technical implementation, governance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with mission and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead engineer and subject matter expert for enterprise Microsoft 365 (M365) solutions, Power Platform development, and cloud-based systems integration.
  • Architect, implement, and optimize M365 services—including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Power Platform, Copilot, and AvePoint Online Services.
  • Lead the development, customization, and deployment of PowerApps (canvas and model-driven), Power Automate flows, and Power BI dashboards to meet organizational and mission requirements.
  • Develop and maintain .NET-based applications, integrations, and automation solutions to enhance system performance and user productivity.
  • Administer and govern M365 environments, including tenant configuration, Azure AD identity management, security controls, compliance settings, data retention, and user permissions.
  • Create, refine, and maintain PowerShell automation scripts to support configuration management, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Manage and support SharePoint Online environments, including site architecture, permissions, content lifecycle, metadata structures, and integration with enterprise systems.
  • Oversee governance and lifecycle management using AvePoint tools, ensuring secure migration, backup, compliance, and reporting across tenants.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to integrate M365 services with Azure, Exchange Online, Teams, SQL Server, Windows Server, and third-party systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues impacting M365 performance, access, automation, or application functionality.
  • Develop and implement Power Platform environments, ALM pipelines, and enterprise policies to ensure secure and scalable automation solutions.
  • Support data protection initiatives by integrating Purview solutions, establishing data classification rules, and enhancing readiness for sensitive data handling.
  • Prepare bi-weekly and monthly technical status reports outlining key tasks, progress updates, risks, mitigations, deliverables, and team performance.
  • Ensure all technical documentation, security change requests, process updates, and architectural records are accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
  • Provide expert-level guidance to leadership and stakeholders on emerging Microsoft technologies, platform enhancements, and modernization opportunities.
  • Deliver technical briefings, user training sessions, and knowledge transfer to teams to increase adoption and understanding of M365 and Power Platform capabilities.
  • Maintain effective communication and strong working relationships with internal teams, government stakeholders, and business units.
  • Ensure all solutions align with enterprise security standards, auditability requirements, and compliance frameworks.
  • Support continuous improvement through proactive recommendations, system audits, and optimization initiatives across the M365 ecosystem.

Education:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field

Preferred Certifications:

Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator ExpertMicrosoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect ExpertMicrosoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity FundamentalsMicrosoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Security Clearance:

Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) required

General Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting Microsoft 365 Cloud Based Suite in a large corporate or government environment.
  • Experience with the M365 cloud platform implementing, managing, and optimizing M365 solutions across organizational environments.
  • Hands-on knowledge implementing, managing, and optimizing M365 solutions (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Power Platform, Teams, Copilot, AvePoint), including migrations, security, and governance practices in M365.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cross-functional tasks and responsibilities to support seamless collaboration.

Primary Technical Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Power BI, Flow/Power Automate).
  • Strong .NET development skills (C#, ASP.Net MVC, Entity Framework, JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for M365 administration tasks.
  • Strong working knowledge of Exchange Online, Intune, Azure AD, and the Azure ecosystem.
  • Experience with M365 development and SharePoint Administration (tenant/site-level admin).
  • Demonstrated experience developing model-driven PowerApps
  • Demonstrated experience customizing SharePoint lists and integrating disparate systems with PowerApps
  • Experience managing user permissions, data retention, and compliance settings.
  • Understanding of Copilot for Power Apps, Copilot for Power Automate, and AI Builder as part of the M365 solution set.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the M365 cloud platform and AvePoint Online Services.

Secondary Requirements:

  • Experience developing data readiness plans and integrating Purview to protect sensitive data.
  • Extensive SharePoint Online Administration experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server and SQL database clusters (2019/2022) in an M365 context.
  • Experience designing and implementing Power Platform environments and pipelines.
  • Experience with Microsoft product enhancements such as Defender, copilots, Loop, Purview, Graph connector.
  • Experience designing and managing SharePoint on-premises farm infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of AvePoint Online Services interfaces and security (tenant-to-tenant, Splunk, BYOK, IP restrictions, SFTP).
  • Experience applying data connectors and establishing enterprise policies.
  • Experience assisting application development using Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI (even if hands-on dev is done by Developer roles).
  • Experience collaborating with systems support staff to integrate SharePoint Online, Teams, Exchange Online, and Azure services.

Administrative Requirements:

  • Experience ensuring processes, plans, schedules, and written documents are completed on time.
  • Experience documenting and managing Security Change Requests and audit logging solutions.
  • Knowledge of security and cyber architect support
  • Experience preparing bi-weekly technical status reports (schedule, deliverables, actions, risks, mitigations, escalations, accomplishments, closures).
  • Experience preparing monthly consolidated status reports on the overall health of a technical team or program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including explaining technologies and technical business concepts to multiple audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective business unit relationships.
