The position requires strong expertise in climate risk assessment, disaster risk management, and locally led adaptation strategies. It emphasizes advancing resilience through hyper-granular climate analytics, sectoral roadmaps, disaster preparedness, and policy research, while building partnerships with governments, donors, and communities.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Development & Management (55%)

• Lead planning and execution of adaptation projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with donor requirements.
• Expand CCS’s adaptation portfolio by identifying business opportunities, developing technical and financial proposals, and building partnerships with governments, donors, and DFIs.
• Contribute to hazard modelling, disaster management planning, climate risk analytics, and thematic research on resilience, just transitions, and cross-sectoral climate impacts.
• Represent IPE Global at national and international forums as a thought leader on climate resilience.
• Monitor programme performance against M&E frameworks and provide regular donor reporting.

Thematic Leadership & Research (35%)

• Provide intellectual leadership for the Climate Risks & Adaptation vertical.
• Guide research on climate finance, sectoral risk assessments, and adaptation strategies.
• Publish policy briefs, technical reports, and knowledge products to strengthen CCS’s thought leadership.
• Support knowledge management, stakeholder engagement, and outreach through events, toolkits, and communication products.
• Contribute to designing integrated climate policies with governments, linking energy, environment, and water systems.

Leadership & Mentoring (10%)

• Manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of analysts and managers.
• Build internal capacity by hiring and training staff at analyst levels.
• Guide cross-sectoral collaboration and support project teams in implementation, budgeting, and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s/PhD in Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change, Water Resources, Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 8 years’ professional experience, including 4+ years in international organisations/IOGs.
• Proven expertise in disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, and policy analysis.
• Strong background in programme design, donor engagement, and proposal development.
• Advanced analytical, modelling, and research skills; proficiency in MS Office.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
