Java Developer

A technology-focused organization in the Travel & Tourism sector building online booking platforms and B2B/B2C travel services. We deliver customer-facing booking flows, partner integrations, and transaction-critical backend systems that require reliability, low latency, and strong data integrity.
Primary title: Java Software Engineer (Remote, India)Role & Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot to power booking, pricing, and inventory modules.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party travel providers (GDS, payment gateways) ensuring secure, reliable data exchange.
• Implement microservices-based solutions, including service-to-service communication, fault tolerance, and observability (logging/metrics/tracing).
• Write clean, testable code with unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews and enforce engineering best practices.
• Diagnose and resolve performance, scalability, and concurrency issues in production systems; propose optimizations and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with product owners, QA, and DevOps to deliver features on an Agile cadence and support CI/CD pipelines.
  

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

• 3+ years hands-on Java development (Java 8+), strong object-oriented design skills.
• Practical experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data / Hibernate.
• Proven knowledge building REST APIs, API versioning, authentication (OAuth/JWT) and error handling.
• Solid SQL skills (MySQL/Postgres) and familiarity with at least one NoSQL datastore.
• Experience with Git, Docker, and automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
• Exposure to CI/CD tooling and Agile/Scrum development practices.
  

Preferred

• Experience with microservices frameworks, service mesh or Kubernetes deployments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and cloud-managed services for databases and messaging.
• Knowledge of message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ) and event-driven architectures.
• Experience integrating travel industry APIs (GDS, hotel/flight APIs) or payment gateways.
• Skills in performance profiling, caching strategies (Redis), and horizontal scaling.
• Previous work in high-throughput transactional systems and secure payment flows.
