The Information System Manager must have a deep and broad knowledge of computer software, hardware, and networks. They will be responsible for managing a small team and high-level projects for the Sheriffs Office (SO). They will design, organize, modify, troubleshoot, and support the SOs computer and network systems. They will also assist troubleshooting local area network issues and will maintain the essentials such as operating systems, business applications, email, servers, laptops, and desktop PCs. Daily tasks may include installing, upgrading, monitoring software and hardware, research, and software development and related work as apparent or assigned. Tasks may also be assigned by IT Management. This position will work with SO management and report to the Assistant IT Director. The normal work schedule includes Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.Essential Functions And Responsibilities Include
Manage new and existing projectsManage a small teamManage, prioritize, and purchase IT related items for the SOHandle up to Tier 3 support calls and tickets using the County Help Desk systemAdminister servers, laptop and desktop computers, printers, scanners, software and hardware deployment, and security updates and patchesWork with SO management and make recommendations for future upgrades including research and developmentEnsure all IT activities are performed within the parameters of County IT Policies, County and State guidelines, applicable laws, codes, and regulationsEvaluate, Maintain, Modify, and Increase system security and performanceAdminister authentication and authorization of directory services including local Active Directory and Azure Active DirectoryDisaster/Recovery Planning for SO IT resourcesSupport and maintain the integrity of the network and network equipment with guidance from the County Sr Network EngineerThe responsibilities and duties outlined above are intended to provide a general outline and summary of this role. A bachelors degree in computer science or related field with 1 year of experience; or associate degree in a computer-related field with 3 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of various programming languages and techniques, operating systems, and the capabilities and limitations of computer and network equipment. Be a leader and communicate effectively in oral and written form. Be self-motivated and perform duties at a high level with little supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work within a budget.Licenses & Certifications
Technical CertificationsOne year in a management roleExperience with Networking with Cisco switches and routersExperience with High Level programming languagesExperience with Microsoft Operating Systems including Windows 10/11 and Server 2016, Windows Servers 2019/2022 and higherExperience with VMware and virtual machinesExperience administering and using Microsoft 365Experience supporting Computer-Aided Dispatch SyWork Environment / Physical Requirements
