Job Summary

Plant Industrial Relations (IR) Manager

Key Responsibilities

Industrial Relations & Union Management

  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with unions, worker committees, and employee representatives.
  • Lead collective bargaining, wage settlements, and long-term agreements with unions.
  • Handle grievances, disputes, and disciplinary actions in line with company policy and labor laws.
  • Prevent and manage strikes, lockouts, or industrial unrest with effective communication and resolution strategies.

Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all labor and factory-related laws (Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Contract Labour Act, Trade Unions Act, PF, ESIC, etc.).
  • Maintain statutory registers, filings, and coordinate with inspectors/auditors during compliance checks.
  • Track and implement changes in labor laws and government notifications.

Workforce & Contract Labor Management

  • Oversee manpower planning for permanent and contract employees.
  • Monitor attendance, discipline, and code of conduct at the plant level.
  • Manage contractor onboarding, documentation, and statutory compliance audits.
  • Ensure contractors disburse wages, PF, ESIC, and benefits as per law.

Employee Welfare & Canteen Management

  • Supervise canteen operations to ensure food quality, hygiene, and compliance under the Factories Act.
  • Oversee welfare facilities including transport, medical, housing, and recreational amenities.
  • Coordinate statutory committees (canteen, safety, grievance redressal, works committee).
  • Drive welfare initiatives that improve worker morale and productivity.

Government Liaisoning & External Relations

  • Build strong relationships with labor departments, local administration, and statutory authorities.
  • Represent the company in labor courts, conciliation proceedings, and other legal matters.
  • Support plant leadership in handling community relations and local issues.

Safety, Health & Compliance

  • Partner with EHS teams to ensure workplace safety standards and statutory obligations are met.
  • Manage accident reporting, compensation, and compliance under the Factories Act and Workmens Compensation Act.
