In this pivotal role, you will lead the EHS function for our Project Entity (PE) across India, overseeing large, complex infrastructure projects—including grid access, offshore energy, HVDC, and FACTS—ensuring our operations are safe, compliant, and future-ready.You will directly support the PE Head and Project Director. You’ll manage a diverse EHS team operating in India, multi-stakeholder environments (including consortia and JV settings), ensuring full legal and internal compliance, and fostering a culture of Zero Harm.As a visible leader and technical authority in EHS for the PE, your focus will include embedding high-performance culture, enabling operational excellence, enhancing workforce safety and wellbeing, and protecting the environment while ensuring strategic alignment with global Siemens Energy objectives.Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and manage the EHS organization across India for Project Entity business, aligned with corporate strategy and global EHS programs.
- Ensure implementation and continual improvement of a certifiable EHS Management System in line with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and internal requirements.
- Design, drive, and implement the regional EHS roadmap based on the global EHS framework.
- Provide strategic and technical leadership in all aspects of EHS, supporting senior stakeholders with expert advice on risk, compliance, and performance.
- Drive EHS excellence using a risk-based approach and foster proactive engagement across supply chain, JV partners, customers, and contractors.
- Ensure comprehensive audit, inspection, and assessment programs are implemented and followed through.
- Lead investigations for major incidents and ensure robust root cause analysis and learning integration.
- Champion sustainability, net-zero initiatives, and science-based environmental targets.
- Collaborate with Project Excellence Office and P&O to support human performance, wellbeing, and training needs.
- Ensure accurate and timely EHS reporting to authorities, regulators, and Siemens global EHS platforms.
- Serve on PE Country Crisis Management Teams and local health & wellbeing committees.
- Engage in industry groups and forums to maintain leadership in EHS thought and operational practice.
What You Bring – Experience And Competence
- 15–18 years of professional EHS experience in the construction and energy infrastructure sectors with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Proven experience leading EHS teams, particularly in mega independent or JV/Consortia projects, and matrix organizations.
- Expertise in EHS legislation, safety by design, and risk-based approaches for large-scale and complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and 9001; Lead Auditor certification highly desirable.
- Demonstrated capability to influence stakeholders, build sustainable partnerships, and drive cultural and behavioral safety improvements.
- Hands-on experience managing and improving management systems, compliance assurance, incident investigations, and EHS metrics (KPI development, leading and lagging indicators).
- Proven leadership in fostering continuous improvement, cultural maturity, and high performance in complex project settings.
- Experience with offshore/onshore construction, JV/Consortia execution models, and working with local statutory authorities.
- Driving license required with readiness to travel across India as required by project and business needs.
What You Bring – qualification
- Basic qualifications: Graduate/Diploma in Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Physics/Chemistry/Math
- Professional qualifications (Indian Law): Degree/M Tech. EHS or Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (only country or state technical education boards certified advance or post graduate diploma from the approved institutes).
- Professional qualifications (International Law): Certified Safety Professional, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, Chartered Status are added preferences.
