Job Description

The Factory Maintenance & Process Development Manager oversees all aspects of factory operations related to equipment maintenance, process improvements, and new technology development. Specialized in jewelry manufacturing—particularly gold, diamonds, and mass finishing—the role ensures that installations, workshops, and machinery setups meet the highest standards of efficiency, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

🛠️ Maintenance & Improvements

  • Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for jewelry processing machinery.
  • Drive continuous improvements in equipment performance and production efficiency.
  • Ensure minimal downtime and optimal utilization of factory resources.


🔬 Research & Process Development

  • Conduct R&D on new machinery, tools, and techniques for jewelry processing.
  • Develop innovative processes for gold, diamond, and plain gold finishing.
  • Implement advanced mass finishing technologies to enhance product quality and throughput.


🏭 Factory & Workshop Setup

  • Plan and oversee installation of new machinery, utilities, and factory layouts.
  • Establish workshops tailored for specialized jewelry production.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for smooth commissioning of equipment.


🧯 Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
  • Maintain compliance with factory regulations, audits, and certifications.
  • Conduct regular safety training and risk assessments for staff.
  • Verify fire extinguisher validity and maintain fire protection systems.
  • Prepare evacuation plans, emergency contact lists, and disaster preparedness protocols.


🤝 Vendor Coordination

  • Collaborate with suppliers, service providers, and internal teams for machinery procurement and upgrades.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage external maintenance and installation services.
  • Align process development with production, quality, and compliance goals.


📑 Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC)

  • Negotiate, establish, and manage AMC agreements for all factory machinery and assets.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure timely servicing as per contract terms.
  • Maintain AMC documentation for audits, compliance, and cost tracking.
  • Ensure AMC coverage aligns with operational needs and risk mitigation.


Audit and Compliance Focus

  • Ensure all documentation is audit-ready, including CAPA reports, gap analysis, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain updated records for fire safety, PPE, emergency response, and disaster preparedness.
  • Align with ISO standards, OSHA requirements, and internal audit frameworks.


Process and Operational Improvements

  • Streamline workflows for maintenance, production, and safety inspections.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules and track equipment servicing.
  • Use checklists and SOPs to standardize operations across departments.


Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare formal reports for audits, year-end closings, and compliance reviews.
  • Translate and localize documents in English, Marathi, and Chinese for stakeholder clarity.
  • Develop job profiles tailored to industry roles (e.g., jewelry, factory maintenance).


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in jewelry manufacturing processes (gold, diamonds, plain gold, mass finishing) with CNC and lathe machines.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems in jewelry factories.
  • Experience in factory/workshop setup and machinery installation.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (ISO, OSHA, local factory regulations).
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and Excel reporting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Jewelry Manufacturing Technology.
  • 7–10 years of experience in factory maintenance and process development, with specialization in jewelry.
  • Certifications in safety management, factory compliance, or maintenance systems (preferred).
