We have an ambitious growth agenda and are rapidly growing our team across UK, Europe, US and APAC. We are seeking talented and highly skilled Director-level consultants to join our team and support us to expand our impact in the Private Equity (PE) sector. You will be working closely with Alysian leaders, PE Operating Partners, and the CIOs/IT Leadership teams at portfolio companies to execute transformative IT-enabled value creation strategies.
CONTEXT ON ROLE
Data Architect
You will work closely with CIOs, CDOs, PE Operating Partners, and portfolio leadership to assess data capabilities, design scalable architectures, and oversee the implementation of modern data platforms across diverse industries.

- Confident engaging with all levels of a client’s organization, from team leads to executives, efficiently gathering relevant information and presenting insights with clarity, authority, and the appropriate level of gravitas for senior audiences.
- Committed to building reusable assets and operating efficiencies within their specialism, contributing to Alysian’s broader capability and intellectual capital.
- Consistently seeks and drives solutions that deliver value aligned with Private Equity expectations — recognizing that these priorities may differ from long-term business goals, as PE ownership may focus on rapid, short-term improvements that enhance sale value
- Comfortable challenging established thinking and influencing stakeholders at all levels by presenting alternative solutions supported with robust financial, operational, and technical justifications
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Recognized degree from leading international universities, with a Post-Graduate degree or Professional Certifications
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10 years in a top-tier consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain) preferred.
10+ years
in data architecture, engineering, or analytics leadership roles, with M&A or transformation program experience.- Proven experience designing and implementing modern cloud data platforms.
- Strong expertise in data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and metadata management.
- Familiarity with BI and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and data science enablement.
- Experience with PE-backed companies or direct PE client engagements highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Data Due Diligence & Assessment
- Evaluate target companies’ data assets, architecture, and governance during M&A.
- Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for value creation via data and analytics.
- Align data assessment findings with the investment thesis.
2. Data Architecture & Strategy
- Design target-state enterprise data architectures, including data lakes, warehouses, and pipelines.
- Define standards for data modeling, integration, and interoperability across systems.
- Recommend technology platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, BigQuery) based on business needs.
3. Post-Merger Data Integration
- Lead integration of disparate data platforms post-acquisition, ensuring data quality and accessibility.
- Support TSA exit readiness by aligning data flows and reporting structures.
4. Data Governance & Compliance
- Establish enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and stewardship models.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards.
5. Advanced Analytics & AI Enablement
- Enable AI/ML initiatives by ensuring data readiness, quality, and scalability.
- Collaborate with analytics and AI teams to operationalize insights into business processes.
6. Cost Optimization & Vendor Management
- Assess and optimize spend on data tools, storage, and processing.
- Lead vendor selection, negotiations, and contract management for data platform services.
7. Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate complex data strategies to non-technical leadership and investors.
- Partner with finance, operations, and technology teams to ensure alignment between data initiatives and business objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
Good to have Private Equity expertise
- Experience in large or mid-cap PEs either as an investment or operating professional, consultant in the PE sector or role in a PE-backed company.
- Experience in large-cap PE houses e.g. Blackstone, Carlyle, Warburg, CVC, EQT, KKR would be a strong asset.
