Role Overview

The Equity Research Analyst will be responsible for conducting in-depth fundamental research, valuation modeling, and sector analysis to support the firm’s investment decision-making across public equities and private opportunities. The role requires strong analytical acumen, financial modeling expertise, and the ability to generate actionable insights from complex financial data.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic investment environment, demonstrates intellectual curiosity, and brings robust financial and commercial judgment to investment analysis.

Key Responsibilities

a. Equity Research and Financial Modelling

• Conduct detailed company-specific research and build comprehensive financial models to forecast performance and valuation.
• Perform DCF, comparable company, and precedent transaction analyses to assess fair value and upside potential.
• Evaluate business models, management quality, industry positioning, and key performance drivers.

b. Sector and Market Analysis

• Track and analyze macroeconomic trends, sector developments, and industry dynamics impacting target investments.
• Prepare thematic research reports and sector outlooks to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
• Maintain coverage on assigned sectors, ensuring continuous update of key metrics and financial drivers.

c. Investment Evaluation and Recommendation

• Support the investment team in identifying and evaluating new investment opportunities.
• Present research findings and investment recommendations to the Managing Partner and investment committee.
• Contribute to the preparation of investment memos, due diligence reports, and return analysis.

d. Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting

• Track portfolio company performance through quarterly results, earnings calls, and management interactions.
• Analyze variance against projections and identify catalysts or risks affecting portfolio performance.
• Prepare periodic performance reports and dashboards for internal and investor review.

e. Cross-Team Collaboration

• Work closely with finance, strategy, and operations teams for data collection and insight sharing.
• Liaise with external research houses, consultants, and subject matter experts when necessary.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Deep understanding of equity valuation, financial modelling, and sector analysis.
• Strong grasp of capital markets, accounting standards, and corporate finance principles.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with data platforms (e.g. Tracxn) preferred.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to operate independently with high attention to detail and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; CFA/CA/FRM preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of equity research experience, preferably in buy-side or sell-side roles.
• Prior exposure to portfolio analysis or investment evaluation in PMS, AIFs, PE/VC funds, or family offices is a plus.
