Job Description

We are seeking profiles for the Director Position for the School of Government at MIT WPU -


Job Purpose

Build a vision for the school (SOG) to define medium and long term academic and research direction and priorities.

Provide Leadership to the Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of SOG to be a leading School of Governance

Enable environment where students learn, thrive and seek to become leaders and innovators of the society.

Collaborate in Interdisciplinary area and with other members of leadership to develop synergies between Education, Research and service priorities across the University.

rincipal Accountabilities:

Oversee Academic Programmes: - Prepare Strategic Plan for the Institute incorporating both operational and financial plans.- Continuously evaluate the vision and mission of the Institute and align institutional processes to strategy and mission.

Design high-quality curriculum that meets the needs of governance with a global perspective and is comparable to the best in the country. Continuous review of plans and programs to ensure that there are no slippages.

Lead and Drive the Social Initiatives of MIT WPU i.e. NLC, Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad, National Teachers Congress, National Women’s Parliament, Sarpanch Sansad, UPSC Felicitation, World Health Parliament,Bharat Asmita National Awards, Arya Chanakya Awards and provide the necessary inputs, support and research for the same.

Plan the manpower needs and recruit high-calibre faculty on time to ensure effective delivery of teaching, research and consultancy activities

Focus on continuous Faculty Development Programs to ensure that faculty members are kept abreast of latest developments in their respective areas of specialization.- Optimum utilization of both physical and human resources that are at the disposal.

Continuous interaction with the society at large to understand it's changing needs and incorporate the same in developing the curriculum of various programs

Engagement of Alumni to mutual benefit.

Participate effectively in various activities of the university every time called upon to do so

Compliance with the requirements of the Regulatory Authorities.- Increased engagement with other Institutes/Schools in University Campus for achieving the larger interests of the University

Track local, regional and national legislative and policy issues related to field and develop strategies to keep board, management and staff informed.

Collect and maintain up-to-date data on key policies, advocacy issues (budgets, etc.), economic trends.

Issue-oriented advocacy research: Develop/Oversee the study design, methodology, sampling, instrumentation development, data collection, implementation, and analysis plans.

Responsible for selecting and implementing appropriate research designs, development/ modification of tools, collection and analysis of data, and report writing for enhancing programme reach

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to create persuasive presentations and written reports
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving multiple teams, including priority setting, planning, budgeting, performance review and management and influencing with limited authority
  • Strong experience of engaging with government officials and multilateral organizations.-.
  • Physical requirements - Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment, Physical stamina sufficient to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • A proven record as a team player and the ability to work with a large number of colleagues in a complex organisation, demonstrating high emotional intelligence
  • Confident and outgoing, with the presence, gravitas and intellect to operate effectively at a senior level
  • Energetic and resilient with political acumen, and capable of quickly forming positive relations with the fellowship, staff, students, alumni and others
  • IT and Digital relationship database literate
  • Keen attention to detail


Qualification & Experience

  • The person will have a proven record of delivering change and engaging others in a vision and direction
  • The person should be PhD in Political Science/Public Policy/Law
  • The person should have minimum 15 years of experience of Academic leadership
  • The person should be of age less than 50 years as on the date of appointment
