Role Definition:
Mechanical Engineer designs Structural components related to Turbo machinery products including Enclosures, Base frames, Ancillary components and validate them to meet the specific requirement. This role provides engineering support for new product development and operational optimization as required to maximize their availability and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Structural and sheet metal components design for Aftermarket projects.
- Creating design concepts for the structural components (mainly sheet metal, Beam, channels etc) to meet design and manufacturing requirements.
- Perform hand calculations and FEM analysis for loads, stability, stress, and fatigue analysis.
- Independently investigate mechanical, plant, and field issues related to Solar Turbine products packaging systems.
- Strong knowledge on Structural material properties and their performance considering offshore & Onshore loading conditions.
- Strong Analytical skills including Acoustic for Enclosure and other system components.
- Able to understand and interpret FEA (Static and Dynamic) Analysis results and implement as design solutions.
- Must apply practical design considerations and utilize technical knowledge to achieve design objectives relative to manufacturability, cost, quality and durability.
- Support innovation by applying the most effective Design solution for new product development.
- Continuously challenges self-skills in functional area and stays current with industry developments in one’s field of expertise.
- Coordinate with several functional teams to progress the design intent (Hydro/Electrical/HMI / Controls Groups)
Qualification:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university or equivalent relevant experience.
- 6-12 years’ experience (bachelor’s degree) or 5-10 years’ experience (master’s degree) in Turbomachinery Packaging Systems Mechanical Design. Knowledge on Gas Turbines and Packaging systems & components are added advantages.
- Ability to produce design layouts using CREO or ANSYS Space claim
- Strong structural validation knowledge using ANSYS.
- Strong knowledge in welding symbols and Standards – API, ASME, ISA, ANSI & DIN
- Strong knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong communication, organizational, teaming and analytical skills are a must.
- Expertise in system & process knowledge in O&G and Power generation industry.
- Field experience, knowledge on BOP would be an added advantage.

Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
