Roles and Responsibilities
- Safety Strategy Development: Formulate, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety strategies tailored to power and energy projects, ensuring alignment with Adani’s safety culture and regulatory compliance.
- Project Safety Planning: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to develop detailed safety plans, risk assessments, and hazard analyses specific to each stage of project execution.
- Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all project activities comply with national and state safety regulations, environmental standards, and Adani’s internal policies. Regularly review changes in legislation and implement necessary adjustments.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations into safety incidents or near-misses, identifying root causes, documenting findings comprehensively, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Training and Awareness: Design and conduct safety training programs and workshops for project teams, contractors, and subcontractors to foster awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Safety Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular site safety audits, inspections, and safety performance evaluations to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement of safety standards.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, coordinating drills and ensuring readiness of all personnel for potential safety emergencies or accidents.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for safety-related communications with internal teams, contractors, regulatory bodies, and local communities, promoting transparency and collaboration.
- Resource Management: Ensure adequate allocation of safety equipment, tools, and resources to project sites, while managing safety budgets efficiently.
- Safety Culture Promotion: Champion a safety-first mindset across all levels of the organization, encouraging proactive identification and mitigation of hazards.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain detailed records of safety activities, compliance documentation, audit reports, and training attendance to support continuous improvement and regulatory reviews.
- Innovation in Safety Practices: Stay abreast of emerging safety technologies and best practices in the power sector and integrate innovative approaches to enhance safety outcomes.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS)
- Strong knowledge of statutory safety regulations and standards in the Power/Energy sector
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits
- Familiarity with safety management software and tools
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical safety data and incident reports
- Knowledge of construction safety practices related to power projects
- Competence in emergency response planning and execution
Non-Negotiable Skills
- Strong expertise in safety management systems specific to power/energy projects
- Proven ability to lead safety compliance and incident management processes
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders
Qualifications
Education QualificationBachelor’s degree in safety engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline. A Master’s degree or equivalent is desirable.
Experience
8-10 years of progressive experience in safety management within the Power or Energy industry, with a strong track record of managing safety protocols in large-scale projects.
