Job Description: Material Procurement & Planning – Casting and Forging Parts. Position Title: Material Procurement & Planning Engineer/Manager (Casting & Forging Parts) Department: Supply Chain / Procurement Role Overview:- The role is responsible for end-to-end material procurement and planning for casting and forging components used in vehicles and aggregates such as Engine, Transmission (TM), Axle, and Foundry. The position involves supplier capacity planning, inventory optimization, cost savings initiatives, and effective coordination across functions to ensure seamless supply chain operations. Key Responsibilities:- Material Procurement & Planning Plan, procure, and monitor casting and forging parts for vehicle and aggregate manufacturing. Ensure timely availability of materials to support production schedules. IT Tools & Systems Utilize IT tools such as DBM, LTP, and MRP for material planning and tracking. Generate accurate forecasts and requirement schedules. Supplier Capacity Planning Assess and align supplier capacities with material requirements. Raise timely escalations in case of supply-demand gaps and drive resolution. Inventory Management Maintain optimal inventory levels to balance cost efficiency and production needs. Track stock levels, reduce obsolescence, and ensure adherence to inventory norms. Change Management Drive engineering change management (EN process) with cross-functional teams. Ensure smooth transition and minimal disruption during part or design changes. Cost Optimization Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in packaging, materials, and logistics. Coordinate packaging cost optimization and logistics savings for the department. Cross-Functional Coordination Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, logistics, and supplier teams to ensure supply continuity. Act as a single point of contact for packaging cost and logistics-related improvements. Qualifications & Skills Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering or related field. Experience: 3–7 years (Engineer) / 7–12 years (Manager) in procurement and planning of castings & forgings in automotive/engineering industry. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of DBM, LTP, MRP tools and ERP systems (SAP preferred). Understanding of foundry processes, casting & forging supply chain. Functional Skills: Supplier capacity planning, inventory management, and cost optimization. Proficiency in engineering change management (EN process). Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and coordination abilities. Ability to work cross-functionally and drive initiatives. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)On-time availability of castings and forgings for production. Supplier capacity alignment with forecasted requirements. Reduction in inventory carrying cost and obsolescence. Achieved cost savings in packaging, material, and logistics. Successful implementation of engineering changes (EN).
