Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    The Legal Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal compliance, managing litigation, and providing strategic legal counsel to support the Cement business unit’s operations and growth. This role is critical in safeguarding the organization’s interests, mitigating risks, and ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks. The Legal Manager will align legal strategies with the business unit’s sustainability goals, operational excellence, and innovative practices, contributing to the Adani Group’s broader mission of nation-building and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    - Prepare detailed briefs for cases, ensuring comprehensive documentation and analysis to support litigation strategies. - Collaborate with external counsels, providing them with necessary case details and ensuring effective representation in court hearings. - Attend court hearings to monitor proceedings and provide real-time inputs to legal teams and business stakeholders. - Draft and vet replies, legal documents, and other materials required for filing cases, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards. - Develop and present review presentations (PPTs) for senior management, summarizing key legal matters and their implications. - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Management Information System (MIS) reports, including Contingent Liability statements and other critical legal metrics. - Ensure timely submission of various reports and Corporate MIS to align with organizational reporting standards. - Provide legal support for the Cement business unit’s sustainability initiatives, including compliance with environmental and industrial decarbonization regulations. - Monitor and manage legal risks associated with the business unit’s operations, including contracts, partnerships, and regulatory compliance. - Act as a liaison between the legal department and other business units to ensure seamless communication and alignment on legal matters. Domain Expertise - In-depth knowledge of Indian legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly those relevant to the cement and manufacturing industries. - Expertise in litigation management, including case preparation, court proceedings, and counsel coordination. - Familiarity with sustainability-related legal requirements, including environmental and industrial decarbonization regulations. - Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents, contracts, and compliance reports. Digital & Operational Tools - Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Manupatra, SCC Online, or equivalent. - Familiarity with case management and document management systems. - Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, for preparing presentations and MIS reports. - Knowledge of digital tools for compliance tracking and risk management. Leadership Capabilities - Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills to align legal strategies with business objectives. - Excellent stakeholder management abilities, including collaboration with senior management and external counsels. - Proven ability to lead and mentor legal teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. - Effective communication and negotiation skills to manage complex legal matters and drive favourable outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience


    Required Qualifications & Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; Master’s degree in Law (LLM) is preferred. - Minimum of 10 years of experience in legal management, with a focus on litigation, compliance, and corporate legal matters. - Proven track record of managing legal issues in large-scale manufacturing or industrial organizations, preferably in the cement or construction sector. Educational Background - Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) is mandatory. - Master’s degree in Law (LLM) or equivalent specialization in corporate or industrial law is preferred. Years & Type of Experience - 10+ years of experience in legal management, with a strong focus on litigation, regulatory compliance, and corporate legal advisory. - Experience in handling legal matters for large-scale industrial or manufacturing operations, with exposure to sustainability and environmental compliance.
