Job Purpose
Supporting the legal team for providing strategic legal advice on payment products, ensuring adherence with applicable laws and RBI regulations, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, customer facing documents, and managing legal risks associated with digital payment services. Working closely with cross-functional teams including product, compliance, risk, and operations to enable business growth while safeguarding legal interests.
Duties and Responsibilities
(a)Documentation:
1)Structuring, drafting and negotiating product specific agreements/documentation for digital payments platforms, UPI Payments frameworks, BBPS, TPAP, payment processor and retail lending products/services;2)Structure, draft, review and negotiate with external counterparts on variety of agreements.
3)Review and structure customer journeys and product specific documentation for physical as well digital front
4)Develop and maintain standard form of agreements/documents.
(b)Internal Stakeholders: 1)Identify and advise on legal risks in connection with development of new products. 2)Advice and supervise the legal issues related to prepaid payment instruments, UPI Payment frameworks, Bharat Bill Payment System, Merchant acquiring for EDC, Soundbox, QR, Dynamic QR, payment gateway, consumer banking, data privacy and other products and services3)Regular interactions with Product, COE and Operations teams for structuring and closure of the product documents and various agreements
4)Provide time-sensitive support on wide array of legal issues relating to products/teams
(c)Tracking Legal and Regulatory Updates
Research and analyze legal/regulatory developments to assess their impact on the product and services offered by BFL and ensuring the same are forming part of the dissemination of various stakeholders by way of Legal notes, journals etc. and aligning the products documents in line with regulatory/statutory changes. oShould have Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Work Experience
oMinimum 6 years of experience in BFSI and Payments sector. oMust be adept with laws and regulatory guidelines relating to BFSI and Payments industry including IT Act Rules applicable, AADHAR Act, Payments and Settlement Systems Act, Data Privacy applicable to business on digital platform, IBC Code, Information Utility regulation etc. oExperience in handling legal affairs related to BFSI and Payments industryoExperience in drafting, reviewing and negotiation of agreements.
oStrong written and oral communication skillsoMust be a team player and take responsibility of the work undertaken with legal acumen
oShould have the ability to independently assess the legal requirements, independently opine on varied matters, good ability to negotiate the documentation with external parties and make timely escalation to senior level wherever requiredoShould have worked in a process oriented environment and ready to take on additional responsibility
oExisting proficiency in Microsoft Office software products including Internet, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
oAdaptability to dynamic business environment, with an ability to develop oneself and stay updated on emerging areas of technology which are relevant to the business/law.
