Location: Bangalore / Mumbai / Gurgaon / Noida / Kolkata / Ahmedabad / Hyderabad / Chennai / Coimbatore / Bhubhaneshwar The Role: Data Protection Officer As a Data Protection Officer at Protiviti India, you'll be instrumental in advising our clients on all aspects of data protection and privacy. You'll work with diverse organizations to help them establish, implement, and maintain comprehensive data privacy programs that comply with local and international regulations. This role demands a strong leader with exceptional communication skills who can drive privacy awareness and foster a culture of data protection. Key Responsibilities Provide expert guidance on data protection laws, including GDPR, DPDPA (Digital Personal Data Protection Act - India), and other relevant global and country-specific privacy regulations (e.g., Middle East Countries). Lead the development, implementation, and management of data protection and privacy programs for clients, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory landscapes. Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) / Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) and ensure "Privacy by Design" principles are integrated into client systems and processes. Develop and implement privacy governance frameworks and provide ongoing oversight of data processing activities. Manage privacy risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure adherence to data protection compliance standards. Drive data privacy awareness and training initiatives across client organizations. Collaborate with legal, IT, and business teams to ensure seamless integration of privacy requirements. Stay abreast of new and evolving data protection legislation, industry best practices, and technological advancements. Effectively communicate complex privacy, security, and risk-related concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Manage multiple projects simultaneously under strict timelines in a dynamic environment. Criteria: What We're Looking For Years of Experience: 12-14 years of overall experience in the area of privacy and Information Security. Around 3-5 years' experience in managing privacy and data protection programs or providing privacy and data protection consulting services. Skills & Expertise: Data Protection Officer (DPO) expertise Data Privacy GDPR DPDPA (Digital Personal Data Protection Act - India) Privacy Compliance Data Protection Compliance Privacy Governance Privacy Risk Management Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) / Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) Privacy by Design Strong understanding of data protection laws, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as IT Act 2000, BS10012, and other Data Protection standards. Proven track record of implementing and managing data protection and privacy programs in large organizations. Educational Qualifications & Allied Skills: Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, IT, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Data Privacy, Information Security, or Cyber Law is highly desirable. Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience. An M.B.A. or M.S. in information security is preferred. A Bachelor’s in Law, or equivalent work experience in the privacy domain is an added advantage. Required Certifications: Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). Good to have Certifications: Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills. Excellent analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines. Project management skills: scheduling and resource management. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
