We have an ambitious growth agenda and are rapidly growing our team across UK, Europe, US and APAC. We are seeking talented and highly skilled Director-level consultants to join our team and support us to expand our impact in the Private Equity (PE) sector. You will be working closely with Alysian leaders, PE Operating Partners, and the CIOs/IT Leadership teams at portfolio companies to execute transformative IT-enabled value creation strategies.
CONTEXT ON ROLE
Cybersecurity Architect
You will work closely with PE Operating Partners, CIOs, CISOs, and IT leadership teams to assess security posture, design target-state security architectures, and execute programs that protect business-critical assets while enabling growth.

- Confident engaging with all levels of a client’s organization, from team leads to executives, efficiently gathering relevant information and presenting insights with clarity, authority, and the appropriate level of gravitas for senior audiences.
- Committed to building reusable assets and operating efficiencies within their specialism, contributing to Alysian’s broader capability and intellectual capital.
- Consistently seeks and drives solutions that deliver value aligned with Private Equity expectations — recognizing that these priorities may differ from long-term business goals, as PE ownership may focus on rapid, short-term improvements that enhance sale value
- Comfortable challenging established thinking and influencing stakeholders at all levels by presenting alternative solutions supported with robust financial, operational, and technical justifications
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP) preferred.
- Recognized degree from leading international universities, with a Post-Graduate degree or Professional Certifications
WORK EXPERIENCE
10+ years
in cybersecurity strategy, architecture, and transformation roles, with exposure to M&A contexts.- Minimum 2 years in a top-tier consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain) preferred.
- Proven track record in cybersecurity due diligence, post-merger integration, and remediation programs.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise security tools, cloud security, identity management, and threat detection technologies.
- Familiarity with global compliance standards and frameworks.
- Experience in PE-backed environments or with PE portfolio companies highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cybersecurity Due Diligence & Advisory
- Lead cybersecurity assessments during IT due diligence, evaluating posture, controls, compliance, and threat exposure.
- Identify high-priority risks, regulatory gaps, and potential value levers for security enhancement.
- Support SPA/TSA structuring to address cybersecurity-related liabilities and separation requirements.
- Prepare roadmaps for implementation of cybersecurity improvement recommendations.
2. Security Architecture & Transformation
- Define target-state cybersecurity architectures and operating models for PE-backed enterprises.
- Recommend improvements in identity and access management, network segmentation, endpoint security, and cloud security.
- Drive integration and remediation plans during post-merger or carve-out scenarios.
3. Incident Readiness & Governance
- Establish incident response frameworks and crisis management protocols.
- Develop security governance models, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms for leadership and investors.
4. Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
- Ensure alignment with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST).
- Support audits, certifications, and security policy rollouts across global operations.
5. Cost Optimization & Vendor Management
- Conduct security tool and service rationalization to reduce costs without compromising protection.
- Lead RFPs, negotiate with MSSPs, and manage performance of security vendors.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
- Present complex security issues and strategies in clear, actionable terms to non-technical senior executives and PE stakeholders.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and operational teams to align security priorities with business objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
Good to have Private Equity expertise
- Experience in large or mid-cap PEs either as an investment or operating professional, consultant in the PE sector or role in a PE-backed company.
- Experience in large-cap PE houses e.g. Blackstone, Carlyle, Warburg, CVC, EQT, KKR would be a strong asset.
