Job Summary

The Costing Professional for Retail Metal and wooden Fixtures is responsible for analysing and managing costs related to the design, production, and installation of metal fixtures used in retail environments (e.g., shelving, racks, display units). The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, optimizing production costs, and ensuring profitability while maintaining quality standards. The professional will collaborate with production, design, and procurement teams to support cost-efficient operations in the retail fixture manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cost Estimation & Analysis:

o Prepare detailed cost estimates for retail metal and wood fixtures, including raw materials (e.g., wood, ply, HDHMR, steel, aluminium), labour, fabrication, and finishing processes (e.g., powder coating, plating).

o Analyse direct and indirect costs, including material wastage, machining, assembly, and logistics.

o Conduct variance analysis to compare actual costs against estimates and identify cost-saving opportunities.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting:

o Develop budgets for metal/wooden fixture projects, including production runs and custom retail installations.

o Forecast costs based on material price trends, labour rates, and production timelines.

o Provide cost projections to support pricing strategies for retail clients.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in costing or financial analysis, preferably in retail fixture manufacturing, metal and wooden fabrication, or a related industry.

• Technical Skills:

o Proficiency in MS Excel 

o Knowledge of costing methodologies, such as activity-based costing, and metal and wooden fabrication processes (e.g., cutting, welding, finishing).

o Familiarity with CAD software or costing tools for manufacturing is an advantage.

• Soft Skills:

o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

o High attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations.

o Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.

o Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
