Job Title : Linux System Administrator (3 to 5 Years Experience) Location : Pune Work from Office Department : IT / Infrastructure Job Type : Full-Time About Us Position Overview : We are seeking a highly skilled Linux System Administrator with 3 to 5 years of experience in managing Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate will have practical knowledge in Linux, Vmware and Networking. The role requires someone who can manage and optimize Linux servers while ensuring system security and reliability in a production environment. Key Responsibilities System Administration : Administer, configure, and maintain Linux servers (primarily Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu). Networking & Connectivity : Configure and troubleshoot network services and protocols (DNS, DHCP, NFS, VPNs, SSH, TCP/IP) to ensure smooth communication between systems. Web Server Management : Manage, configure, and optimize web servers like Apache and Nginx for performance, security, and scalability. Proxy Configuration : Configure and maintain reverse proxies using Nginx or other proxy solutions to efficiently manage traffic and load balancing. File Systems Management : Administer Linux filesystems and Network File Systems (NFS) to ensure remote file sharing and storage management. OS Patching & Updates : Regularly apply patches, security updates, and OS upgrades to keep systems secure and compliant with the latest standards. OS Security & Hardening : Implement and enforce security policies, including firewall configurations, SELinux, and SSH key management. Regularly perform security audits and ensure compliance with security best practices. System Optimization : Develop and implement strategies to optimize Linux systems, including kernel tuning, file system management, and performance monitoring, to maximize efficiency and resource utilization. Documentation and Training : Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for Linux systems and processes, including configuration guides, standard operating procedures, and incident reports. Provide training and mentorship to juniors and collegues. Collaboration : Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, network engineers, and application developers, to support Linux infrastructure requirements and initiatives. Participate in architectural discussions and provide recommendations for system improvements and enhancements. Performance Monitoring : Monitor system performance, analyze logs, and identify potential bottlenecks, optimizing resources to ensure smooth operation, good understanding of the open files, kernel parameters. Backup & Recovery : Plan and execute backup strategies for critical data and ensure the recovery process is efficient and tested regularly. Automation & Scripting : Write and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) for system maintenance tasks, software deployments, and monitoring. Troubleshooting & Support : Provide technical support and resolve system issues promptly, ensuring minimal downtime. Firewall & Security Tools : Experience in managing firewalls (e.g., iptables, firewalld) and security tools. Virtualization : Hands-on experience with virtual environments such as VMware, KVM, or Docker. Willingness to learn and work on AWS Cloud. Skills & Qualifications Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in Linux administration, with demonstrated leadership in administering and optimizing Linux-based systems. Expertise in Linux operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian, with proficiency in system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Strong understanding of networking, storage, and virtualization technologies in Linux environments. Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or Perl. Knowledge of security best practices and tools for Linux systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability scanning. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Willingness to work in nights shifts or support 24 x 7 Coverage as per the Business needs. Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud-based Linux systems (AWS, GCP, Azure). Monitoring Tools: Experience using monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, Zabbix, Grafana) for system health checks and alerts. Database Knowledge: Basic understanding of relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Education & Certifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
