Modulr enables businesses, from SMEs to Enterprise, initially across the UK and Europe, to efficiently pay-in, collect and disburse funds instantly via a range of payment schemes, accounts, and card products.We have created an industry-leading API platform with comprehensive online tools and access, to meet the demands of daily business payments. We have two routes to the market. Our Core Business Payments product allows customers in any sector to connect to us and our expanding network of accounting and payroll platforms, including Sage, Xero, BrightPay and IRIS to automate payments. Our Vertical Solutions targets a growing range of industry verticals which directly connect their IT platforms to our APIs and webhooks. We solve complex payment problems for hundreds of clients in a range of industries, including Travel, Lending, Wage Advance, and Investment & Wealth.We are deeply integrated into the payment ecosystem. Across the UK and Europe our payment network connectivity includes FPS, BACS, CHAPS, Open Banking, SEPA, SWIFT and account issuance in multiple currencies. Modulr holds settlement accounts at the Bank of England. We are a principal member of Visa and Mastercard schemes across UK and Europe. Our regulatory permissions and governance structure are the foundations of our business. We are regulated and supervised as an Authorised Electronic Money Institution (AEMI) in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority and in the Netherlands by De Nederlandsche Bank. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct periodic and event-driven Customer Due Diligence (CDD) refreshes for both individual and corporate clients, including screening and reviewing for adverse media, sanctions, and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) profiles.
- Review and update customer records in accordance with FCA guidelines, EU/UK AML directives, and internal risk policies.
- Collect, verify, and assess KYC documentation (e.g., ID, address proof, ownership structures).
- Perform sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening; escalate any hits or anomalies per escalation protocols.
- Collaborate with internal teams and onshore teams to resolve any gaps or discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all due diligence activities, maintaining audit readiness and GDPR compliance.
- Identify and suggest improvements to the CDD refresh process, including automation opportunities.
- Stay informed on regulatory developments and industry best practices in customer due diligence.
- Work effectively in a high-volume environment, managing multiple cases and priorities while maintaining quality and turnaround standards, and actively engage in continuous professional development to enhance skills and adapt to evolving business needs.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CDD, KYC, AML, or financial crime roles within a regulated financial institution or fintech.
- Solid understanding of UK/EU AML regulations, including JMLSG guidance, and FCA expectations.
- Familiarity with various client types and structures (e.g., corporates, trusts, partnerships, beneficial ownership).
- Experience using screening and data tools such as Orbis, Moody’s, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, especially in high-volume environments.
- Proven ability to manage large volumes of work while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Excel, CRM/KYC platforms, and document management systems.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently with accountability, while adapting effectively within diverse team environments to achieve shared goals.
