As a business development and sales professional, you'll need to:1. Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, clients, partnerships, products and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets2. Seeking out appropriate contact in an organization3. Generate leads and cold call prospective clients4. Help to plan sales campaigns and create a sales pipeline5. Following sales process6. Prepare technical and commercial proposals7. Prepare and deliver presentations8. Use CRM to maintain the sales cycle9. Negotiate pricing with clients and suppliers in some cases10. Increase sales and carry out sales forecasts, analysis, MIS and present your findings to senior management/the board of directors11. Develop the business sales and marketing strategy12. Regularly meet and follow up with existing, new and prospective clients13. Foster and develop relationships with clients14. Understand the needs of your clients and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these15. Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning and strategies to implement operational changes.16. Have a good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to advise others about them.17. Train members of your team, arranging external training where appropriate.18. Discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department.19. Liaise with the finance team, warehousing and logistics departments as appropriate.20. Prepare and attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate.21. Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world.22. Focus on target-based sales revenue.
