Battery Technician

Key Responsibilities1. Cell Handling & Pack AssemblyAssemble Li-ion / Li-Po battery packs as per design and configuration Perform cell matching, sorting, and grouping based on voltage, IR, and capacity Execute spot welding or soldering of cell tabs with controlled parameters Ensure correct series-parallel configurations and polarity alignment 2. BMS & Electrical IntegrationIntegrate BMS (Battery Management Systems) where applicable Connect balance leads, power leads, and connectors accurately Verify wiring integrity, insulation, and strain relief Support basic troubleshooting of BMS-related issues 3. Testing & Quality ControlConduct initial and final testing: voltage, capacity, IR, charge-discharge cycles Use battery analysers, multimeters, chargers, and load testers Identify defective cells or packs and segregate as per SOP Maintain test logs and batch traceability 4. Safety & ComplianceFollow strict battery safety protocols, PPE usage, and fire-prevention norms Handle chemicals, electrolytes, and damaged cells safely Respond to battery incidents (swelling, overheating) as per emergency SOP Maintain compliance with factory and defence safety guidelines 5. Storage & Inventory ControlEnsure proper storage, SOC management, and labeling of cells and packs Monitor shelf life and environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) Coordinate with Stores for FIFO and traceability 6. Documentation & ReportingMaintain assembly checklists, test records, and rejection reports Report anomalies, failures, and safety risks immediately Support audits and inspections related to battery manufacturing Must-Have SkillsHands-on experience with Lithium-ion / Lithium-polymer batteries Basic understanding of battery chemistry, C-rating, IR, SOC Experience with spot welding or precision soldering Ability to read wiring diagrams and assembly instructions Strong safety awareness and attention to detail Bonus Skills (Differentiators)Experience with UAV / FPV / robotics battery packs Familiarity with BMS programming or diagnostics Exposure to high-current connectors (XT, AS, EC series) Knowledge of thermal management and fire suppression basics
