Backend Engineer

Java and/or Node.js

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java or Node.js.
• Translate business requirements and product concepts into scalable technical solutions and architecture.
• Build and maintain secure, high-performance, and fault-tolerant RESTful / GraphQL APIs and data processing pipelines.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, data structures, and system reliability.
• Integrate backend systems with databases, third-party services, and internal APIs.
• Collaborate with DevOps to automate CI/CD pipelines, improve deployment efficiency, and maintain cloud environments.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues across distributed systems, ensuring system stability and availability.
• Participate in design and code reviews to maintain code quality, best practices, and technical consistency.
• Work collaboratively in Agile/Scrum environment, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and documentation.
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 4-7 years of demonstrated experience in backend engineering or backend-focused full-stack development.
• Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot / Java 8+) and/or Node.js (Express.js / Nest.js).
• Solid understanding of backend web development, API design principles, and integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, etc.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or container orchestration is preferred.
• Proficiency in working with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS / GCP / Azure.
• Strong analytical, debugging, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of secure coding practices, authentication/authorization models (OAuth2, JWT), and data protection principles.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following industry best practices.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with event-driven architecture or real-time data streaming.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack), and automated testing.
• Contributions to open-source projects or familiarity with modern architectural patterns
