Role
The role involves overseeing the management and resolution of all legal cases, including customer, vendor and land. It includes ensuring compliance with legal guidelines, standardizing contracts, coordinating with external counsels, and enhancing internal case tracking systems. Additionally, the role focuses on minimizing legal costs, ensuring good corporate practice, and strengthening legal compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Review customer-related documents such as Conveyance deeds, booking forms, Builder Buyer Agreements, Offer of Possession, Allotment letter, Maintenance service agreements and other contractual documents etc. to ensure legal robustness and compliance with legal requirements
- Review vendor-related documents such as Work orders, Purchase orders, LOIs, LOAs, Consultancy Service Agreements and other contractual documents etc. to ensure legal robustness and compliance with legal requirements
- Review all documentation with respect to land acquisition (such as sale deeds, title deeds etc.), debt financing (such as Loan Agreements, Term sheets etc.), mergers and acquisitions (such as NDAs, MOUs etc.), corporate leasing (lease agreements, MOUs etc.)
- Review, advise and standardize all documentation related to employees such as employment letters, offer letters, NDAs, non-compete or non-solicitation agreements etc.
- Review all material published on public forms such as PR and marketing material for compliance with all relevant regulations such as RERA etc.
- Oversee the revision of standard terms and conditions in all legal documentation (mentioned above) and undertake standardization of all Business Contracts as and when deemed appropriate
- Closure of all customer litigation across all forums, encourage settlements and withdrawal of cases in the first hearing itself
- Take note of all notices received by the company and ensure proper and timely response
- Manage responses to consumer litigation, and ensure timely filing of documentation to consumer courts, RERA tribunal and other relevant legal authorities
- All vendor litigations to be settled as per company's guidelines else to be contested/ arbitration to be implemented thoroughly
- Provide inputs regarding responses to property/land disputes and other civil litigation
- Work closely with external legal counsel to develop strategies for complex legal cases and manage settlements and mediations
- Contribute to team capability development by ensuring adherence to performance management and appraisal system instituted by the company HR
- Manage relationships with external legal vendors, and establish necessary legal infrastructure, including implementing a Legal Management System (LMS)
- Review and advice on transition to digital contract management, ensuring improved efficiency and accessibility.
- Provides general corporate legal advisory services, offering guidance on a wide range of legal issues that affect the business
- Ensure adherence to compliances including but not limited to the ones specified in the charging matrix
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Law (LLB/LLM), preferably with additional qualifications in corporate governance or compliance.
- 20+ years of experience handling legal affairs in real estate, infrastructure, or a related industry.
- Proven experience in litigation management, contract drafting, regulatory compliance, and advisory services.
- Strong understanding of RERA, property law, consumer disputes, employment law, and commercial contracts.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience in working with external legal counsels and managing complex case strategies.
