Job Title:

Automation Tester

Role Proficiency

Ensures adherence to testing practices and processes to improve test coverage, ensure software quality, and support business outcomes through strategic QA initiatives.

Key Responsibilities / Outcomes

  • Create detailed test estimates and schedules
  • Analyze business processes, conduct risk analysis, and ensure full test coverage
  • Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts using Katalon Studio
  • Participate in test planning, execution, and reporting
  • Prepare and publish test summary reports, RCA reports, and preventive measures
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in reviews, walkthroughs, and demos
  • Contribute to UAT, functional, and non-functional testing
  • Identify defects and perform defect tracking and root cause analysis
  • Work in Agile/Waterfall environments and contribute to QA best practices
  • Suggest alternate testing strategies that may contribute to cost savings for clients
  • Ensure quality documentation, compliance, and traceability (e.g., RTM)

Must-Have Skills

  • 5+ years in software testing (manual + automation)
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in automation testing using Katalon Studio
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Test Plan preparation
    • Test Case creation and execution
    • Regression testing automation
    • Functional and Non-functional testing
  • Experience with API testing
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and testing methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)
  • Experience writing test cases from user stories/requirements
  • Ability to conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and prepare test metrics
  • Defect lifecycle management and UAT coordination
  • Proficiency in using bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA)

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in performance testing of applications and APIs
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks and best practices
  • Experience in running and managing UAT sessions
  • Exposure to CI/CD and integration with automation tools
  • Experience in Test Estimation and Effort Scheduling
  • Knowledge of:
    • Test design techniques
    • Estimation techniques
    • Test review efficiency metrics
  • Prior experience contributing to knowledge management: best practices, lessons learned

  • Test Script Creation & Execution Productivity
  • Defect Leakage Metrics (% of UAT/Production defects)
  • % of Test Case Reuse
  • Test Execution Coverage
  • Test Review Efficiency
  • Defect Acceptance Ratio
