Assistant Manager / Manager Quality (FMCG)

Fazlani Foods - Mahape Navi Mumbai

The Quality Manager will be the custodian of quality for our entire manufacturing process, from raw material intake to finished product dispatch. This role is responsible for leading the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) functions, ensuring all products meet Fazlani Foods' stringent quality standards, as well as national and international food safety regulations. You will be a key leader on the plant floor, driving a culture of "quality-first" across all departments and ensuring our products are safe, consistent, and of the highest possible standard.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Management System (QMS) & Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust QMS in line with global food safety standards such as FSSC 22000, BRC, USFDA, and HALAL.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all internal and external audits (customer, regulatory, and certification bodies), ensuring successful outcomes and timely closure of any non-conformities.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local regulations, including FSSAI, Legal Metrology, and environmental norms.
  • Quality Assurance (Process Control):
  • Establish and enforce in-process quality checks and controls at all critical control points (CCPs) throughout the production line (e.g., raw material handling, cooking, retort processing, packing).
  • Lead the HACCP team, regularly reviewing and validating the HACCP plan to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Manage the documentation and record-keeping for all quality-related activities, ensuring traceability and audit-readiness.
  • Oversee supplier quality management, including supplier audits, qualification, and performance monitoring of raw material and packaging material suppliers.
  • Quality Control (Product Testing):
  • Manage the in-house laboratory for all chemical and microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods.
  • Develop and validate test methods, ensuring all lab equipment is calibrated and maintained.
  • Establish clear specifications for all materials and products and ensure adherence through rigorous testing and inspection protocols.
  • Oversee sensory evaluation programs to ensure products consistently meet taste, texture, and appearance standards.
  • Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of QA/QC officers, chemists, and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes of defects, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (like Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma) to reduce waste, improve process efficiency, and enhance product quality.
  • Champion a "quality-first" mindset across the plant by conducting regular training for production staff on GMP, food safety, and quality standards.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management:
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to quality, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
  • Work closely with the R&D and New Product Development teams to ensure quality and food safety are built into new products from the design stage.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain departments to resolve any quality-related issues and ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience:
  • A minimum of 8-12 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance/Control within the FMCG food manufacturing industry.
  • At least 3-5 years in a managerial , managing a team of quality professionals.
  • Direct experience with ready-to-eat (RTE), RTC, retort processing, is highly preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
