Assistant Manager

Role Purpose:

To lead and manage the entire production process from raw material planning to dispatch, ensuring optimal productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness in CNC, VMC, Grinding, Rolling, Hobbing, and Broaching operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Control

· Plan, organize, and oversee daily production activities from raw material receipt to final dispatch.

· Ensure timely achievement of production targets as per customer schedules.

· Coordinate with PPC, Quality, and Maintenance departments for smooth workflow.

2. Process Management & Improvement

· Monitor and optimize machining processes (CNC, VMC, Grinding, Rolling, Hobbing, Broaching).

· Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions for productivity improvement.

· Ensure process standardization and adherence to SOPs and work instructions.

3. Quality & Rejection Control

· Drive initiatives to reduce the cost of poor quality and overall rejections.

· Collaborate with QA to address customer complaints and implement root cause analysis.

· Promote a zero-defect culture across all production lines.

4. Tooling & Fixture Management

· Control tooling and fixture costs through effective utilization and maintenance.

· Ensure availability and timely calibration of tools, gauges, and jigs/fixtures.

· Drive improvement projects for tool life enhancement and setup reduction.

5. Manpower Management & Training

· Supervise production supervisors and operators to ensure performance and discipline.

· Conduct regular training on safety, 5S, and process improvements.

· Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.

6. 5S & Shop Floor Excellence

· Implement and sustain 5S, Kaizen, and visual management systems.

· Maintain clean, organized, and safe shop floor conditions.

· Monitor adherence to safety standards and PPE usage.

7. Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain daily production reports, OEE tracking, downtime analysis, and rejection records.

· Prepare MIS and submit production performance reports to management.

· Ensure all ISO / IATF documentation related to production is updated and compliant.

8. Cost & Efficiency Management

· Monitor production costs and identify areas for cost-saving initiatives.

· Optimize machine utilization, manpower efficiency, and material yield.

· Drive continuous improvement projects to improve output per shift.

Qualification and Skills Formal Qualifications Essential

· B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering

· 6-8 years of experience in machining-based auto parts manufacturing environment

· OEE improvement

· 5S and audit compliance score

Desirable

Specific Functional Capabilities, Knowledge and Skills RequiredEssential

· Strong knowledge of CNC, VMC, Grinding, Rolling, Hobbing, and Broaching operations.

· Expertise in production planning, process control, and lean manufacturing.

· Hands-on experience in rejection control, tooling cost optimization, and fixture management.

· Proficiency in 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and documentation as per IATF/ISO standards.

· Leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Effective communication and team management abilities.
