Area Legal Receivable Manager - Litigation

Role & responsibilities

To manage and drive the legal receivable strategy for Home Loan (HL) and Loan Against Property (LAP) portfolios, ensuring effective resolution of delinquent accounts through legal processes, recovery actions, and close coordination with internal stakeholders, external legal counsel, and collection agencies.

1. Legal Case Management

• Manage end-to-end legal recovery process for delinquent HL & LAP accounts.
• Initiate and monitor legal proceedings under SARFAESI, DRT, NI Act (138), Arbitration, Civil & Criminal suits.
• Ensure timely filing of Section 13(2) / 13(4) notices and execution of recovery proceedings.
• Coordinate with empaneled advocates for case filings, follow-ups, and court appearances.

2. Receivable & Recovery Management

• Track overdue accounts and prioritize high-value NPAs for legal action.
• Liaise with collections team to evaluate accounts for pre-legal settlement vs. litigation.
• Drive recoveries through legal settlements, OTS (One-Time Settlements), and auctions.

3. Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting

• Regularly update management on case progress, risks, and recovery performance.
• Monitor cost-to-recovery ratio and optimize legal expenses.
• Provide insights for strengthening early warning systems to reduce future defaults.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Law (LLB) mandatory; Masters in Law (LLM) preferred.
• 6 to 10 years of experience in legal recoveries/collections, preferably in banking/NBFC sector.

• Strong knowledge of recovery laws SARFAESI, DRT, NI Act, IBC, Civil & Criminal procedures.
• Good understanding of mortgage documentation, loan agreements, and property laws.
• Prior exposure to Home Loans (HL) & Loan Against Property (LAP) portfolios essential.
