We procure high-quality tea packages from both public auctions and private suppliers across the nation. Our extensive operational network involves transporting these goods to our various warehouse locations, managing a complex and high-volume supply chain that spans the length and breadth of the country, from the South to the North and vice versa.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly-skilled Transport Head to take complete ownership of our entire inland and outbound logistics operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader responsible for managing the seamless, cost-effective, and compliant movement of all tea packages. This role is critical to our success, overseeing everything from the initial procurement transport to warehouse receiving and final dispatch.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Logistics Management: Direct and oversee all domestic transport operations, including the movement of tea packages from auction centers and private sellers to our various company warehouses.
• Pan-India Transport Strategy: Develop, implement, and optimize logistics strategies for complex transport routes, particularly the high-volume corridors between South and North India.
• Receiving & Dispatch Operations: Manage and streamline all warehouse receiving and dispatch functions, ensuring 100% accuracy in package handling, inventory reconciliation, and timely loading/unloading.
• Outbound Logistics: Coordinate and manage the outbound logistics chain, ensuring that tea packages are prepared and transported efficiently to ports or other locations for export.
• Vendor & Transporter Management: Negotiate contracts, manage relationships, and monitor the performance of all 3PL providers, transporters, and freight forwarders to ensure cost-effectiveness, reliability, and high service levels.
• Compliance and Documentation: Ensure full compliance with all road transport regulations. This includes personal oversight and expert knowledge of:
• E-way bill generation and management.
• Accurate creation of Delivery Challans (DC).
• All other statutory road documents, permits, and compliances.

Cost Optimization:

Continuously analyze transport costs, routes, and vendor performance to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising on quality or timelines.

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the logistics, dispatch, and warehouse teams, setting clear KPIs and fostering a culture of accountability and efficiency.
• Reporting: Track and report on key logistics metrics (e.g., transit times, cost-per-package, vendor performance) to senior management, providing actionable insights.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience (7-10+ years) in a senior logistics or transport management role.
• Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience with Indian transport documentation, including the generation and management of E-way bills, Delivery Challans (DC), and other road documents.
• Demonstrable experience managing high-volume, pan-India logistics, including inter-state transport.
• Strong background in managing transport for commodities, agriculture, or FMCG products.
• Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills.
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
• Proficiency in using Transport Management Systems (TMS), ERP software, and MS Excel.

Preferred:

• Postgraduate degree or MBA in Supply Chain Management.
• Prior experience in the tea industry or export-oriented business.
• In-depth knowledge of logistics networks in both South and North India.
