Project Role : Technology Support Engineer Project Role Description : Resolve incidents and problems across multiple business system components and ensure operational stability. Create and implement Requests for Change (RFC) and update knowledge base articles to support effective troubleshooting. Collaborate with vendors and help service management teams with issue analysis and resolution. This individual will be a deep subject matter expert in both Linux and Solaris systems administration, spanning various distributions (Solaris, Red Hat, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu), and possess significant experience in AWS cloud administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on security hardening, vulnerability management, automation, and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across diverse Unix-like environments. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a passion for maintaining secure, reliable, and performant systems. Responsibilities: • Linux & Solaris Systems Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for both Linux and Solaris systems, providing deep technical guidance and support to the team. Administer and maintain Solaris Unix (including legacy versions), Red Hat Linux, Amazon Linux, and Ubuntu Linux servers, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This includes advanced troubleshooting, performance tuning, kernel-level analysis, and capacity planning across both platforms. Special emphasis on Solaris administration skills, including familiarity with legacy commands and system-specific tools. • Risk and Vulnerability Management: Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks and vulnerabilities across the diverse Unix-like and cloud infrastructure. Develop and implement vulnerability scanning, penetration testing strategies, and other security measures. Stay current with the latest security threats and vulnerabilities affecting both Linux and Solaris systems. • Security Patching: Develop and implement a robust patching process for Linux and Solaris systems and applications, ensuring timely and effective application of security updates. Automate patching processes where possible. • PAM Management: Manage and optimize Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM) for authentication and authorization on both Linux and Solaris systems, implementing advanced authentication methods and access controls. • OS Migration: Lead and execute complex operating system migrations, including migrations from older Solaris versions to newer ones or to Linux, minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity. Develop migration plans and procedures. • CIS Security Hardening: Champion the implementation of Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks to harden Linux and Solaris systems and improve overall security posture. Develop custom CIS hardening scripts and configurations. • AWS Cloud Administration: Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud resources, including EC2 instances (including those running Linux or Solaris), S3 storage, VPC networking, IAM, and other relevant services. Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, and security. • AWS SSM Management: Leverage AWS Systems Manager (SSM) for advanced automation, patch management, configuration management, and compliance management of AWS instances, including those running Linux or Solaris. • Disaster Recovery Management: Contribute to the development and implementation of disaster recovery plans for both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring business continuity and minimal downtime in the event of a disaster. This includes specific considerations for Solaris and legacy systems. • Shell Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain advanced shell scripts (Bash, ksh, csh, etc.) and automation tools to streamline operations, automate complex tasks, and improve overall efficiency across Linux and Solaris environments. Contribute to the development of automation frameworks and best practices. • AWS CMF Migration: Play a key role in AWS Cloud Management Framework (CMF) migrations, providing technical expertise and support, including considerations for migrating or integrating Solaris-based applications. • Troubleshooting and RCA: Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex technical issues across Linux, Solaris, and cloud environments, perform in-depth root cause analysis (RCA), and implement effective corrective actions. Develop troubleshooting guides and knowledge base articles. • Mentoring: Mentor junior Linux and Solaris administrators and cloud engineers, sharing your expertise and helping them develop their skills. Qualification Require: · Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. · RHCE Certification · Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. · 15 years full-time education is required. Required Skills and Experience: • 7+ years of experience in Linux system administration across multiple distributions (Red Hat, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu), with a focus on deep technical expertise. • 5+ years of experience in Solaris system administration, including familiarity with legacy versions and commands. • 3+ years of experience with AWS cloud administration, including architecture design and implementation. • Expert-level understanding of security best practices, including risk and vulnerability management, security patching, and CIS hardening across both Linux and Solaris. • Extensive experience with PAM management, OS migration (including Solaris), and VMware administration. • Strong knowledge of change management tools (Valgensis, ServiceNow) and privileged access management solutions (Delinea). • In-depth experience with Red Hat Satellite Server administration. • Shell scripting and automation across multiple Unix shells (Bash, ksh, csh, etc.). • Proven experience with disaster recovery planning and execution, including specific considerations for Solaris. • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis. • Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills. Preferred Skills: • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional,RHCE). 15 years full time education
