Job Title:

About Boston Insights

Boston Insights is on a mission of transforming clinical supply chains through data-driven command center capabilities. It has developed a category defining solution, AXIOM,  a clinical supply chain command center that unifies data for end-to-end visibility, proactive risk management, and agile decision-making to ensure on-time delivery of investigational drugs to trial patients. The team blends deep practitioner expertise with modern Microsoft technology to unlock competitive advantage for pharmaceutical sponsors and CROs.

Role Overview

Boston Insights is looking to hire a Technical Architect to design and deliver a supply chain analytics platform on Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Pages with strong stakeholder engagement and communication responsibilities.

The Technical Architect leads architecture and hands-on development of AXIOM’s Power Platform-based analytics and orchestration layers, translating clinical supply requirements into scalable, secure, and compliant solutions on Microsoft Azure. The role partners closely with business stakeholders, product, data engineering, and customer teams to deliver resilient, reusable capabilities that accelerate value realization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect AXIOM’s end-to-end solution across Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Pages, with modular components for rapid reuse across studies, countries, depots, and sites.
  • Define target architecture, data flows, integration patterns, and SLAs on Azure services (e.g., Azure SQL, integration pipelines) to support real-time and batch analytics for clinical supply KPIs and risk monitoring.
  • Establish data governance, security, and environment strategy (Dev/Test/Prod), aligning to pharmaceutical compliance expectations and auditability.
  • Lead data modeling, semantic layer design, and DAX standards for robust Power BI analytics and executive command center views.
  • Design model-driven and canvas apps for exception management, allocations, approvals, and master data stewardship; build Power Pages portals for sponsor or partner collaboration.
  • Orchestrate cross-system workflows in Power Automate to streamline change controls, alerts, escalations, and risk mitigations tied to predefined playbooks.
  • Partner with stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into roadmaps, epics, and release plans that quantify business impact and time-to-value.
  • Create architecture blueprints, solution design documents, and guardrails; mentor developers on Power Platform patterns, ALM, and DevOps practices.
  • Lead demos, design reviews, and executive briefings; guide adoption, training, and change management with clear narratives tied to trial outcomes.
  • Drive performance, cost, and reliability optimizations with measurable KPIs for availability, latency, data freshness, and user adoption.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years in enterprise solution design, with 5+ years architecting on Microsoft Power Platform and Azure for data and workflow-heavy applications.
  • Deep hands-on with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, governance), Power Apps (canvas/model-driven), Power Automate (cloud/desktop flows), and Power Pages (portal architecture).
  • Proven architecture of secure, multi-environmental solutions with role-based access, data loss prevention, and auditability suited to regulated industries.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills—able to lead discovery, align cross-functional teams, and present to executive sponsors crisply.
  • Experience integrating with clinical/supply chain systems or analogous operations (ERP, IRT/RTSM, WMS, CTMS, QMS, eTMF, LIMS) is highly desirable.
