Purpose - Trade Compliance (Customs
Classifications, Conflict Minerals reporting, Dangerous Goods, SCRM, etc.), aftermarket, sourcing, vendor
management etc.
The above activities have become quite vast & need a well-coordinated, focussed & integrated approach to
deal with these. Also, to improve efficiency there is need to explore & implement digitalisations &
automations in these activities to reduce the monotonic elements & improve accuracy.
We are looking for a person having integrated & methodical approach with drive & leadership skills to lead &
further develop the teams
Job description:
To lead and assist members in the team and be point of contact for projects with customers. Your mission
Customs classification.
Within the engineering team you will contribute to execute
Requests received for HS code classification & screening of DU codes as per guidelines of WTO.
You work with a team of classification engineers, project engineers and logistics engineers.
Your responsibilities will include the following aspects.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Keep updated with latest/ upcoming developments in the global trade compliance field & related
legislations
- Lead & motivate the trade compliance team who will,
o Execute requests received for HS code classification & screening of DU codes as per
guidelines of WTO.
o Analyse the technical details like; working principle, functional parameters, materials, etc of
parts / products of Company parts & provide them correct HS code as per European,
Indian, USA & Chinese customs & WTO guidelines.
o Understand the logic behind The General Rules for the Interpretation (GRI) of the
Harmonized System, also known as the General Interpretative Rules (GIR).
o Communicate with the global customer on daily basis & resolve the technical queries/issues
raised by customs authorities.
- Ensure proper resource planning to deliver effective & efficient resource utilization
- Ensure the Costs are controlled & the cost per hour remains within specified target.
- Evolve & define the competency maturity model & its timeline for Trade compliance team
- Continuously strive for improving team effectiveness & efficiency through use of automation &
digital techniques like RPA, Data Analytics etc.
- Infuse in the teams, the ability to work effectively in cross-functional technical teams in the projects.
- Identify & deploy the best practice across the Company entities globally.
- Advise and transfer knowledge, coach, and mentor to colleagues.
- Develop, improve, and deliver training to support the technical growth of team. Developing E-
learning courses (basic knowledge) and classroom session for advance knowledge
- Present Updates/ latest technology/ knowledge gained and applied in project as a part of
competence development.
- Drive change by leveraging new technology & innovations to improve overall effectiveness
- Demonstrate excellent relationship skills with the ability to collaborate, engage & manage with
customer with active involvement of Genia’s related business teams.
- Foster a sense of urgency to implement a customer focused organizational culture and to deliver
world class customer service levels
- Analyse the technical details like; working principle, functional parameters, materials, etc of parts /
products of Company & provide them correct HS code as per European, Indian, USA &
Chinese customs & WTO guidelines.
- Daily basis reporting to service centres mainly in Belgium, USA & India as well as other customer
centres & product companies of Company globally.
- Communicate with the global customer on daily basis & resolve the technical queries/issues raised
by customs authorities.
- Mentor fellow colleagues
Experience / Knowledge requirements
- Basics of mechanical & electrical engineering should be clear
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, MS Outlook; MS Excel proficiency is an advantage.
- Strong attention to details;
- Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and
development.
- Technical leadership skills - strong technical leadership skills including the ability to lead teams
and/or projects that focus on engineering & operational excellence
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills – Cooperates & collaborates with others, fully
contributes to achieve the team goal. Should be team player and strong communication and
interpersonal skills with all levels of business
- Result orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines in order to deliver projects
as per the timelines and quality standards
- Knowledge of BPCS / ERP is a plus
Educational requirements:
Graduate in B.E Mechanical Engineering graduate preferred: 8 to 15 years of experience; in relevant field
