Maintenance Engineer - Utilities

for our Steel Plant operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of utility systems supporting steel production, including water, power, air, and other essential services. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, system optimization, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. Proven experience in utilities maintenance within a steel plant or similar industrial environment is preferred

Job Title

Sup_Utility Mechanical- Maint_WMLAs an Maintenance Engineer in an Utilitylant is responsible for ensuring the continuous and safe operations, by maintaining and operating the various systems that support steel production, including water, power, Air and other essential services. This involves troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs on various mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems within the plant. They also ensure the quality of processwater treatment, RO plant, etc to meets required standards. Proven experience in the maintenance of industrial equipment, preferably with experience Utiliies Steel Plant or similar industrial machinery. Functional/Domain Knowledge - Knowledge of Utility operations & maintenance activities and work flows.

Principal Accountabilities

Operation, Preventive, Corrective, and Predictive Maintenance

- Operating and maintaining equipment's and other machinery related to utilities. This may involve performing routine checks, cleaning, and minor repairs. Performing routine maintenance on all equipment, including centrifugal & screw compressors, valves, cryogenic pumps/tanks, cooling towers, Expander / turbine, Ind pumps, pneumatic actuators, gear box, dryers, filters, valves, instrumentation, PCM & SGP plant, Fire Hydrant system, HVAC system, shillers, Industrial Air conditioners, Diesel Engines, Blast Furnaces, Nitrolgen, Oxygen Natural gases system, to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. Performing scheduled maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and utilizing data to anticipate potential problems and address them before they occur.

Troubleshooting, Problem-Solving: and Repair

- Diagnosing and necessary repairing malfunctions in the Utilities plant's systems, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components. Ability to diagnose and repair complex system malfunctions. Analytical skills with different quality tools (7QC TOOL, FMEA,RCA etc...Optimization of Plant Performance - Identifying opportunities to improve plant efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance overall performance. Identifying areas for improvement in plant operations and maintenance procedures. Ensure analysis of repetitive failure of equipment's/assemblies/parts & implementation of Corrective/ Preventive measures eliminate the failure, thus reduce the cost

Safety Environment Compliance

- Ensuring all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with safety regulations and procedures, including proper lockout/tagout procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE.. Adhering to all safety procedures and regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures, confined space entry protocols, and other relevant safety guidelines. Ability to follow procedures, maintain accurate records, and ensure quality. Familiar with System (QMS, IMS MS .. Knowledge of Energy & Water conservation

Documentation and Reporting

: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, parts usage, and equipment performance data. Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and any incidents or near misses. SAP

Coordination: Communication Skills

- Knowledge of planning, administration and control for smooth functioning of department. Working with other team members, including plant operators and technicians, to ensure smooth and continuous operation of the oxygen plant. Ability to communicate effectively with other team members and potentially with external vendors. Ability to work effectively with others and communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues.

Inventory Management

- Planning, Budgeting, of regular & critical spares, comsumbles etc. Assisting in the management of spare parts inventory to ensure timely availability for maintenance activities. Engage in vendor development and indigenous spares development for the equipment's.

Shutdown Management

- Participating in the planning and execution of planned shutdowns for maintenance and repairs

Knowledge of ASU Processes

- Familiarity with the principles of air separation, cryogenic distillation, and related processes.

Technical Skills

- Knowledge of utility systems, equipment operation, and basic maintenance procedures. Experience with tools and equipment commonly used in steel plants is beneficial.
