Job Purpose/ Summary

The Shot Peening Engineer (Stainless Steel Tubes. is responsible for developing, implementing, and controlling shot peening processes specifically for stainless steel tubing applications. The role ensures that surface treatment operations achieve the required residual stress profiles, surface finish, and mechanical performance to meet product and customer specifications. This position supports production through process optimization, equipment maintenance standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product durability, quality, and efficiency.

Steel_Pipe PlantThe Shot Peening Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing shot peening processes for stainless steel tubes to improve fatigue strength, surface integrity, and corrosion resistance. The role ensures that all shot peening operations comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality procedures while driving continuous improvement in process control, efficiency, and equipment performance.

Principal Accountabilities

Develop, validate, and maintain shot peening processes for stainless steel tubes. Define process parameters (media type, intensity, coverage, pressure, and exposure time. to meet engineering and customer specifications. Monitor and analyze process performance data to ensure consistency and quality. Conduct trials, prepare process documentation (SOPs, work instructions, control plans., and establish process capability studies. Support new product introductions and design for manufacturability related to surface treatment. Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to resolve process or product issues. Ensure shot peening equipment calibration and maintenance are performed as per schedule. Implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency, cost reduction, and quality enhancement. Maintain compliance with applicable standards such as AMS 2430, AMS 2432, or other customer-specific shot peening requirements. Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for any process non-conformities. Train and support operators and technicians on process parameters and quality control.
