Job Purpose/ Summary

Support Pipe Plant Finishing Process Operations

Job Title

Steel_Pipe PlantTo ensure efficient operation and maintenance of the

shot peening process

for seamless steel pipes, maintaining surface quality, stress resistance, and compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.

Principal Accountabilities

Process Operation & ControlSupervise and operate shot peening machines to achieve desired surface finish and residual stress profiles on pipes. Monitor process parameters such as shot size, peening intensity, coverage, air pressure, and nozzle angle. Ensure correct machine settings as per production schedule and customer specifications. Quality AssuranceConduct surface roughness, arc height (Almen strip., and coverage inspections. Maintain process documentation, quality reports, and traceability records. Coordinate with the Quality Department to resolve non-conformities and implement corrective actions. Maintenance & TroubleshootingPerform daily checks and minor maintenance of shot peening machines, shot media recyclers, and dust collectors. Report equipment malfunctions and assist maintenance teams during repairs. Ensure optimal shot media condition (size, hardness, cleanliness.. Safety & HousekeepingFollow and enforce plant safety protocols and PPE requirements. Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring no shot leakage or contamination. Participate in safety audits and hazard identification activities. Process ImprovementAssist in continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, 5S, TPM.. Suggest improvements to reduce media consumption, improve efficiency, and enhance surface quality. Support trials of new equipment, media, or process parameters. Knowledge of:Shot peening principles and equipment (wheel-type / air-type.. Surface stress improvement and fatigue strength enhancement. Almen intensity and coverage testing methods. Basic mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.
