Staff Network Engineer (Zero Trust & Zscaler)
Summary
As a Staff Network Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting Genesys’ global network with a strong emphasis on Zscaler (ZIA/ZDX) and Zero Trust architecture. This hands-on role will be responsible for the rollout, optimization, and ongoing management of secure access solutions across complex global environments.You will partner closely with the Cloud Platform, Security Architecture, and IAM teams to ensure alignment between networking, security, and cloud access strategies. The role will also contribute to broader networking initiatives across SD-WAN, routing, switching, proxy, and firewall infrastructure, helping to evolve Genesys’ network to a scalable, resilient, and future-ready state.This position requires a deep understanding of Zscaler deployments and vendor-agnostic Zero Trust principles, with the ability to design and implement secure connectivity models for diverse and complex use cases. The role includes on-call participation as part of the global network support rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Zscaler & Zero Trust Architecture
- Lead the design, deployment, and support of Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zsclaer Client Connector (ZCC), and Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX) solutions across a complex, global environment.
- Architect secure network access for VPNs, VDIs, developer endpoints, and distributed users.
- Collaborate on the future Zero Trust strategy, developing vendor-agnostic designs that align with business and security goals.
- Optimize Zscaler configurations for performance, scalability, and security.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, policy tuning, and performance monitoring across global traffic flows.
- Network Engineering & Operations
- Contribute to the design and management of network infrastructure including SD-WAN, routing, switching, DNS, proxy, and firewalls.
- Implement network security controls, segmentation, and connectivity solutions aligned with Zero Trust principles.
- Participate in on-call rotations, providing incident response and escalation support for global network issues.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for architectures, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaboration & Strategy
- Partner with Cloud Platform, Security, and IAM teams to align network access, identity, and cloud strategies.
- Contribute to network modernization efforts, including secure cloud access, automation, and telemetry integration.
- Support proof-of-concept and pilot initiatives for emerging secure access technologies.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for Zscaler and Zero Trust networking in technical and strategic discussions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in network engineering, including 3–5 years of architecting and deploying Zscaler or Zero Trust environments.
- Proven experience managing complex network architectures with global users, VPNs, VDIs, and developer workstations.
- Strong knowledge of Zscaler implementation for common developer tools such as Python, npm, Java, AWS cli, docker, devops cli, etc.
- Deep knowledge of Zscaler ZIA/ZDX architecture, policy management, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of ZDX reporting and API integration capabilities
- Strong understanding of Zero Trust principles and identity-centric network security models.
- Proficiency with SD-WAN, routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), switching, firewalls, proxy, and DNS technologies.
- Hands-on experience with packet capture analysis, traffic steering, and tunneling in hybrid environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver in complex, high-visibility programs.
- Zscaler certifications (ZDTE, or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex networking concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to participate in a global on-call rotation for incident response and escalation.
