Job Description

Position Overview:

As a Senior Purchase Engineer in the PEB industry, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for the construction of pre-engineered buildings. Your role will involve ensuring that purchasing activities are performed in compliance with company policies, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, and optimizing costs while ensuring timely delivery of quality materials. You will play a pivotal role in the smooth execution of projects by coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for sourcing materials, equipment, and services essential for PEB projects.
  • Ensure material specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines are aligned with project requirements.
  • Supplier Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers and maintain a robust supplier base.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Develop long-term relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure consistency in quality and supply.
  • Purchasing Process Management:
  • Oversee the entire procurement process from purchase requisition to order placement, ensuring compliance with internal protocols.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, follow up on order status, and resolve any issues related to deliveries or quality.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and construction teams to understand project requirements and ensure that materials are available on time.
  • Inventory and Stock Management:
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels without overstocking or understocking.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams for material receipt and storage to avoid project delays.
  • Cost Optimization:
  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives without compromising on quality or timelines.
  • Review supplier performance regularly and conduct supplier audits to ensure the best possible price and terms.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, supplier contracts, and delivery schedules.
  • Generate regular reports on procurement activities, budget status, and supply chain performance for senior management.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain (e.g., material shortages, delivery delays) and develop mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and legal regulations for all procurement activities.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing within the construction, manufacturing, or PEB industry.
  • Strong experience in managing suppliers and negotiating contracts in the construction and engineering sectors.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Understanding of materials and components used in Pre-Engineered Building systems (e.g., steel, structural components, roofing materials, etc.).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other design software is an advantage for understanding technical specifications.
  • Skills:
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/Procurement software.
  • Certifications:
  • Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position
  • Occasional travel to suppliers’ facilities, construction sites, and vendor locations
  • Office and field-based work

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
