About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mainframe technologies, production support, and release management, along with solid leadership and problem-solving skills. This role involves working closely with business stakeholders, leading production activities, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support development, maintenance, and production activities in mainframe environments.
- Work on COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, DB2 Stored Procedures, SORT, SPUFI, QMF, IBM scripting, and MQ Series.
- Manage production releases, pre- and post-production support, and issue resolution within SLAs.
- Use tools such as INSYNC (Files & DB2), IBM Load Utilities, ADE Workbench, SCLM for data and code management.
- Collaborate with business partners to translate functional specifications into technical solutions.
- Develop and execute complex test plans to verify new or modified logic.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve defects, identifying root causes and ensuring stability.
- Provide feedback on business requirements and consult on technical builds.
- Ensure compliance with Agile methodologies and participate in sprint activities.
- Train and mentor team members, fostering knowledge sharing and technical growth.
- Maintain documentation, workflows, and configuration for system operations.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong experience in Mainframe technologies: COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM.
- Proficiency in data manipulation and synchronization using INSYNC, IBM utilities.
- Hands-on with production support, release management, SLA adherence.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze requirements, design specifications, and develop application components.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of Agile methodology and collaboration tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PDF).
- Exposure to insurance domain (products, rules, and systems) preferred.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Exstream Dialogue tool (rules, functions, workflows, driver file mapping).
- Knowledge of desktop publishing and document composition (AFP/PDF outputs).
- Familiarity with Rules Maintenance Systems and Offering Systems.
