Sr. Backend Engineer

.In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that power a high-performing e-commerce platform. You will collaborate closely with product owners, engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions that improve user experience, internal processes, and operational efficiency. The role involves participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, while ensuring system reliability, security, and performance. You will also mentor junior engineers, perform code reviews, and help shape backend architecture decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Occasional travel to the company’s headquarters will provide opportunities for team building and alignment with global operations.
- Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and maintain reliable and scalable distributed backend systems.
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Ensure system performance, security compliance, and adherence to development best practices.
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
- Conduct code reviews, evaluate technical designs, and mentor junior team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement client-facing features and internal solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and integrate them into backend systems where appropriate.
- Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field with 7+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience with Java frameworks (Spring, Struts, Hibernate).
- 5+ years of experience with relational databases (MySQL, Oracle).
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, system design, and backend architecture.
- Experience with Linux, Shell/Perl scripting, and web servers (Apache, Nginx).
- Familiarity with full software development lifecycle, including frontend and backend integration.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a remote environment.
