Job Description

Role Description : The Product Engineer role is expected to have in-depth knowledge of our Ticketing Domain products. They aid the team in understanding upstream and downstream product impacts plus the underlying technology capabilities. They also provide end to end systems thinking, ensure backlog hygiene, and lead Sprint Planning with the development teams. Key Responsibilities: Work cross functionally within IT and the business to onboard and/or migrate new partners, test and implement new partner functionality/inventory controls, and regression test as needed to maintain high performance Support Strategic Initiatives and Epics/Features which impact FDM functionality through consultation, testing, PNR creation, troubleshooting and ensuring international use cases are considered (codeshare, interline, ground handled, ITCI) Gather, develop, coordinate, and maintain business requirements for various projects and/or systems from initial phase to final implementation, assuring requirements meet standards; troubleshoot issues, coordinate timelines, maintain and communicate project status reports and tracking Interact closely with internal/external customers to understand business processes, customer requirements, project schedules, and level of satisfaction Supports Product Roadmap planning, updating Agility (SDLC tool) with Feature planned dates Supports Product and Feature-level solutioning Go-to for Product-level functionality Coordinates Product Owners, Architects and Development team for Feature grooming Identifies dependent systems in conjunction with Architects and Development Leads Leads Increment planning and updates Agility with agreed upon delivery dates Works with Dev Team to cascade stories/defects for an Increment within Agility Leads Backlog Grooming with Dev Team, ensuring backlog hygiene within Agility Owns Sprint Planning with Dev Team Owns Dev Team backlog and story / defect hygiene in Agility, including mapping of upstream and downstream story or other team dependencies In partnership with the Dev Lead, communicates Feature progress to the Delivery Managers In partnership with the Dev Lead, reviews team velocity to drive continual improvements In partnership with the Dev Lead, supports escalating team blockers WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS): Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related technical field is required. 3+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Software Development or Delivery Management Strong ability to solution business problems using technology and systems thinking Able to query database using SQL and knowledge about an NoSQL would be an added advantage Leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority Strong collaboration and partnership abilities Strong ability to work with Product Owners, Portfolio Architects, and Development Teams to breakdown features into user stories (technical and functional) A firm grasp of systems and design thinking, with a spirit of continual improvement An eye towards Product Management best practices to optimize value delivery Understanding of Scrum Methodology and team productivity metrics such as Velocity An understanding of how to leverages data to aid in decision making Innovation attitude, constantly exploring new technologies or ways of working Experience with backlog management and scrum tools such as VersionOne, Jira, Rally, Agility Willingness to jump in and help the team regardless of role WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS): Understanding of Service Recovery within an Airline (systems support flight delays and cancels) Understanding of Roadmap Planning concepts Certifications or training in areas of Product Management, Product Ownership or Cloud Technologies Show more Show less
