You will be at the heart of New Relic’s engineering process and will be building, extending, and supporting a core set of services which all of New Relic’s agents connect to every hour of every day processing millions of messages per second, handling petabytes of data as part of a distributed team that values both collaboration and individual focus to solve challenging engineering problems.

What You’ll Do

• Build, maintain, and scale back-end services and their support tools.
• Participate in architectural definitions with a high degree of innovation and creativity
• Own and drive the improvement for your team’s processes.
• Contribute with the team’s roadmap.
• Learn and contribute to design and development problems with the support of a world-class team covering your back.
• Work with a distributed agile team with close collaboration with our other teams in Europe and the US.

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

• You are an engineer with at least 5+ years of experience in distributed systems, concurrency and scaling in a production environment, who can bring your learnings and career experience to bear on our roadmap.
• You have experience building multi-threaded and distributed systems understanding of scalability patterns in OOP (Java, Go, Python…).
• You are familiar with asynchronous programming techniques: streams, event-based flows, task queues and message queues.
• You have experience shipping and desire to continue to develop production, 24x7, highly reliable, high-throughput services.
• You are not afraid of adapting, learning and getting your hands dirty with different languages and frameworks.
• You are not afraid to be on-call and ready to extinguish fires.
• You communicate easily in English.

Nice-to-have:

• You thrive in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques, tools and methodologies.
• You have a collaborative work style that includes colleagues in important decisions and leads to improve the product sharing ownership.
• You are self-motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a distributed team, learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
• You have an interest in trying and learning new technologies.
• Experience in technical mentorship and support for helping level up the skill of colleagues on the team
