Position Overview

You own the full-stack architecture for payment services inside a market-leading dental SaaS platform. You guide a high-performing team, set technical direction, and deliver resilient systems that boost how thousands of practices collect revenue. Your decisions drive reliability and growth for dental professionals across North America.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership by defining architecture, decomposing projects, mentoring engineers, and running rigorous design and code reviews.
• Build and evolve backend services and RESTful APIs in Django and Python, focusing on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Design efficient relational schemas in PostgreSQL, tune queries, and manage migrations using SQLAlchemy and Alembic.
• Implement robust CI/CD pipelines: define branching strategies in Git, automate build, test, deploy, and ensure safe rollbacks.
• Optimize runtime performance with Redis caching and Nginx reverse proxying for higher throughput, lower latency, and secure traffic handling.
• Collaborate with product and operations teams to translate business requirements into executable technical plans.

Must have Criteria

• 7–10 years of software development experience delivering production web backends and RESTful APIs in Python and Django.
• Proven leadership in guiding engineers, setting standards, and conducting design and code reviews.
• Strong RDBMS expertise: schema design, indexing, transactions, and performance tuning on PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with SQLAlchemy and Alembic for model definitions, schema versioning, and safe migrations.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows, including gated testing and release automation.
• Practical knowledge of Redis and Nginx for caching, eviction patterns, and secure high-throughput proxying.
• Working understanding of NoSQL paradigms and when to combine them with relational stores.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to payment-gateway integrations such as Adyen or Stripe.
• Cloud-native delivery with Docker or Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code within CI/CD workflows.
• Observability practices covering metrics, logs, and tracing for performance and reliability improvements.
