Your Team's Impact
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Acquisition team at FactSet, you will play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing our existing suite of tools that efficiently enable the annual sourcing of millions of documents. Your focus on reducing technical debt and improving system integrations will contribute directly to increased platform stability and reliability. Leveraging your expertise in C++ & Python, you will advance critical systems to deliver dependable, efficient, and scalable solutions for our users. Working collaboratively in an agile environment, your contributions will promote best practices, foster innovation, and reinforce FactSet’s standing as a trusted provider of research and analytical tools for finance professionals.
What You'll Do
- Tool Support & Enhancement: Maintain, support, and enhance existing Acquisition tools to ensure seamless and reliable document processing.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement feature updates and optimizations that address system enhancements, reduce technical debt, and strengthen the reliability of current solutions.
- Programming and Integration: Develop and integrate robust functionality using C++ and Python, all while applying sound object-oriented programming principles to strengthen existing systems.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with product developers and stakeholders to define project roadmaps and business needs—prioritizing system stability and client requirements, using tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Quality & Reliability Assurance: Employ test-driven development and thorough documentation to validate system enhancements and ensure platform dependability.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate with geographically diverse teams to ensure effective support and integration across departments.
Required Skills
What We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from a reputable institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years in software development with proven experience maintaining and enhancing application platforms.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong expertise in C++ for application development and support.
- Strong expertise in Python for application development and support.
- Thorough understanding of data structures and algorithms to maximize performance and efficiency.
- Proficiency in object-oriented design for robust, scalable, and maintainable systems.
- Development and Collaboration Tools: Experience with GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills for troubleshooting and optimizing existing tools.
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal abilities to work effectively with distributed teams and stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize and manage workloads efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
