JOB DESCRIPTION – SENIOR SALES OFFICER

Position Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and target-driven SENIOR SALES OFFICER to join our FMCG sales team. The role involves managing retail and distributor relationships, driving secondary sales, ensuring product visibility at outlets, and achieving sales targets in the assigned territory. The ideal candidate should be passionate about sales, well-versed with local market dynamics, and capable of building strong relationships with retailers, wholesalers, and stockists.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Distribution

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets across assigned FMCG product lines.
  • Regularly visit retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and modern trade outlets to generate and maintain sales.
  • Ensure adequate stock availability at distributor points and retailers.
  • Drive product placement, in-store visibility, and shelf share in line with company standards.
  • Promote new product launches, offers, and schemes to trade partners.

2. Market Development & Customer Engagement

  • Onboard new retailers and expand coverage in the assigned geography.
  • Build strong long-term relationships with distributors, retailers, and channel partners.
  • Educate shopkeepers and sales staff about product benefits, pricing, and promotional schemes.
  • Identify and resolve retailer complaints to maintain satisfaction and loyalty.

3. Merchandising & Brand Visibility

  • Ensure implementation of POS (point-of-sale) materials, product displays, and promotional campaigns.
  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing, promotions, and suggest counter-strategies.
  • Maximize product presence in general trade, modern trade, and specialty outlets.

4. Reporting & Collections

  • Track sales data, route coverage, and beat plans effectively.
  • Submit daily/weekly sales and visit reports to area sales managers.
  • Ensure timely collection of payments and compliance with credit policies.
  • Update CRM/sales reporting tools regularly with customer interactions and pipeline status.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in local language & English/Hindi.
  • Persuasion, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to handle field challenges and achieve stretch targets.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with local retail market, distribution network, and territory geography.
  • Basic knowledge of Excel, MS Office, or mobile sales apps.

Qualifications

  • Graduate in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred (but not mandatory).
  • 1–3 years of experience in FMCG field sales is an advantage; freshers with strong selling skills may apply.
  • Experience in general trade/modern trade sales will be highly valued.

  • Achievement of sales volume/value targets.
  • Number of outlets covered per day/month (coverage & productivity).
  • Growth in active retailers and distributors.
  • Improvement in product visibility & market share.
  • Timely collections and reduction in overdue payments.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
