Qualification: B.E. / B. Tech in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, or M.Sc. in Environmental Science.

Industry Background: Experience in EPC or Water Treatment Industry

Project Value Exposure: Must have handled projects of ₹5 Crore and above

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Proposal Engineer – Water Treatment to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing cost-effective and technically sound techno-commercial proposals for water treatment systems including WTP, UF, RO, Desalination, DM, and High Purity applications. The ideal candidate must have sound process knowledge, tendering experience, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams to secure winning bids.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal Preparation:

Prepare technically feasible and commercially competitive proposals for domestic and international clients.

Ensure alignment with client specifications and project requirements, including BOQ, scope, and cost.

Conduct cost estimation including material, equipment, labour, contingency, and risk allowances.

Assist in the development of standard costing templates and estimation tools for quicker turnaround.

Tendering & Bidding:

Review tenders, client documents, and specifications thoroughly.

Participate in the bidding process, ensuring timely and complete submissions.

Prepare technical and commercial bid documents with all supporting calculations and deliverables.

Design & Documentation:

Perform basic process design including mass balance, hydraulic calculation, equipment sizing and utility lists.

Provide input and review process documents such as PFDs, P&IDs, BFDs & layouts

Ensure clarity, completeness, and accuracy of design documents.

Client Interaction:

Attend technical discussions and clarification meetings with clients and translate them into CRS, TBE.

Vendor Management:

Prepare vendor RFQs, analyse offers, and negotiate to achieve cost-effective solutions.

Review vendor drawings, data sheets, specifications, and calculations.

Post-Award Support:

Collaborate with project execution teams including procurement, piping, electrical, and instrumentation for design validation and clarification.

People Development:

Mentor junior engineers by guiding them in technical and commercial aspects of proposal engineering.

Technical & Software Skills:

Water treatment design tools and projection software

MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Good understanding of costing tools and estimation spreadsheets

Soft Skills / Behavioural Competencies:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Effective communication and client-facing ability

Time management and ability to work under tight deadlines

Detail-oriented with high accuracy in documentation and costing

Ability to analyse competitor strategies and market pricing to enhance win probability.

Familiarity with bid-win ratio tracking and proposal benchmarking

Ensure compliance with client commercial and legal terms in coordination with legal/procurement.

Awareness of contract clauses, exclusions, and risk assumptions during proposal stage.

Contribute to continuous improvement of proposal processes and knowledge repository.

Willingness to travel for client meetings, site visits, as needed.
