In this role, your goal will be to bring our DataStage platform to the next level.The first step will be to learn the platform and the many solutions running on it, and come up with a renewed set of standards and best practices that these solutions should comply to. These standards will cover how the solution should look like from an architectural standpoint, naming conventions, documentation templates, and so forth.You will participate to the development activities for you to be able to gain first-hand knowledge of the development workflow, although your main occupation will be to assist others in getting there.Next, you will work with our Project and Program Managers to define how to get there. You will identify the gaps, evaluate the progress, guide our colleagues on how to best achieve compliance, and attend gate reviews to ensure the solutions are matching our new expectations. This also includes documentation and knowledge sharing. Your contribution in defining the roadmap for the next years will be essential here.You will become the SPOC for questions related to the architecture of the DataStage platform, which will also include some Consulting work in gathering the right requirements and coming up with the right solution, according to the new standards you have defined. You will produce clear and complete SAS, architectural diagrams at various degrees of abstraction, overall views on the Security and Regulatory Compliance of the solutions.As an advocate for high quality and speed, you will help creating solutions with agentic AI and automation, to improve the flow of the deployments, including testing, communication, and documentation, as well as improving and automating the troubleshooting flow.
Ready to embark on the journey? Here’s what we are looking for:
Knowing how to develop and support IBM DataStage, down to the CLI and the Linux backend is an absolute must, because this will be needed for you to understand the solutions in depth, as well as acting as an escalation point for both support engineers and developers. Knowing IBM QualityStage will be a significant plus. Experience with scripting in Bash and Python will be extremely useful.We mainly use Teradata and Snowflake, so you will need expertise on at least one of them, to understand how to provide the best-performing ETL solution. Knowledge of Oracle and Informix will also be a useful, but not as necessary.You will be asked to present the solutions and their details to Senior Management, Architects, as well as your teammates, create documentation that even a newcomer can understand, and leverage the right people for the right topic. Experience in data modelling, technical writing, creating architectural diagrams in LeanIX, and wiki-style documentation in Confluence will be very important. Your CV and your communication style during the assessments will play a significant part of the selection process.As you will work in a DevOps environment, any experience with CI/CD pipelines, agentic AI, automation with Bash and Python, and ITIL Incident Management, as well as working in an Agile environment, will all be a very big plus.
