Experience: 5–10 years in scrap trading and steel industry markets
We are looking for a highly motivated and result-oriented Scrap Trader with proven experience in the buying and selling of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous scrap in both domestic and international markets. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen, a solid network in the steel industry, and in-depth knowledge of primary and secondary steel markets.
This role requires an entrepreneurial, proactive personality with excellent negotiation skills, the ability to spot market opportunities, and the drive to generate profitable business.
1. Source and sell Ferrous and Non-Ferrous scrap in domestic and export markets.
2. Develop strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, and scrap yards globally.
3. Manage import and export processes, including incoterms, logistics, shipping documentation, and customs clearance.
4. Monitor and analyze scrap price trends, demand-supply patterns, and competitor activities.
5. Identify and develop new markets and customer segments for sustainable business growth.
6. Negotiate contracts and secure profitable deals in line with company targets.
7. Coordinate with logistics, finance, and operations teams for smooth transaction execution.
8. Prepare market reports and forecasts using data analytics tools for strategic decision-making.
9. Stay updated on government regulations, international trade policies, and environmental standards affecting the scrap trade.
1. Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Business, or Engineering (Metallurgy/Mechanical preferred).
2. 5–10 years of proven experience in Ferrous & Non-Ferrous scrap trading.
3. Strong network in the steel industry (primary & secondary market).
4. In-depth knowledge of scrap grades, specifications, and industry standards.
5. Expertise in import/export trade operations and international scrap markets.
6. Strong data analytical skills to evaluate pricing, trends, and market conditions.
7. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
8. Self-motivated, target-driven, and proactive in identifying and closing business opportunities.
9. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and business reporting tools.
10. Ability to work independently across multiple locations and geographies.
