Job Description

The Sales Manager / Sr. Manager – Specialty Chemicals will be responsible for managing and nurturing relationships with existing clients to ensure long-term retention, revenue growth, and customer satisfaction. The role focuses on key account management, contract renewals, and maximizing value from current business partners, rather than new client acquisition. The position requires 15+ years of proven experience in specialty chemicals sales, strong technical understanding of chemical applications, and a track record of successfully managing large/strategic accounts.

Responsibilities:


Account Management & Client Servicing

  • Manage relationships with key domestic and international clients, ensuring consistent engagement and satisfaction.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all client requirements, technical support, and issue resolution.
  • Understand client businesses, processes, and evolving needs to propose tailored chemical solutions.
  • Drive contract renewals, long-term agreements, and annual business discussions with clients.


Revenue Growth & Retention

  • Identify opportunities to increase sales volume, product penetration, and wallet share within existing accounts.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and supply agreements while maintaining profitability.
  • Collaborate with clients on joint projects, new applications, and process improvements.


Collaboration & Execution

  • Work closely with production, supply chain, R&D, and quality teams to ensure timely delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Provide inputs to R&D for product modifications or new formulations as per client feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and client-specific requirements.


Reporting & Market Intelligence

  • Prepare periodic MIS reports on client performance, forecasts, and revenue contribution.
  • Track competitor activities within existing client base and recommend defensive strategies.
  • Share insights with leadership to support strategic decision-making.
  • Mentor junior sales executives/account managers handling smaller clients.
  • Contribute to strategic sales planning and key account management frameworks.


Skills required:

  • Strong expertise in key account management and client retention.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of specialty chemicals and their industrial applications.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to balance customer needs and company profitability.
  • Effective communicator with experience handling senior client stakeholders.
  • High ownership mindset and ability to manage large accounts independently.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Polymer Science / related field (MBA preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in sales of specialty chemicals, with focus on account management.
  • Proven track record of managing large/key domestic & global clients.
  • Experience in handling long-term contracts, institutional buyers accounts preferred.
